Health officials in Guerrero report there are currently 8 active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo, 106 in the entire state. Please mask up in indoor areas where other people congregate and in large gatherings outdoors where people are close together.

The port has been closed for a couple of days now, so fresh fish will be scarce in local stores and restaurants.

Though Huracán Blas has passed us by, its winds reached us in such strong gusts that it caused some damage to roofs and trees as well as blowing sand, dust and debris around. If you have to be outdoors stay alert. Waves from the storm have also been picking up on top of the extreme tides from the full moon and another round of mar de fondo, so along the open ocean expect large waves of up to 3 meters as well as beach erosion along with a steady strong breeze of around 35km/h from the southeast. Here in our sheltered bay things are mostly pretty calm by comparison though we're still seeing gusting winds. Keep an eye on our local weather.

Tucked away in part of the remaining coconut grove of La Ropa is a cute little economical hotel called Areca Suites where all the rooms have kitchenettes and include a hammock for enjoying our perfect weather. A perfect place to call home for your vacation within easy walking distance of the beach as well as many delicious restaurants.

:jam: Sittin' on the beach just watchin' hurricanes go by. ¡Adios Blas!
