We enjoyed a lovely refreshing morning, but once the sun came out the day warmed up quickly. Just a tad on the hot side, but nothing the shade and a cool refreshing drink couldn't handle. A day made for swinging in a hammock. Makes you appreciate how hearty folks had to be to live here before electricity arrived. Similar to how we lived back in '74 during my first stint here when electricity was still extremely unreliable. How many people still live in the sierra and outlying communities.

While there are certainly more foreigners around, local tourism has dropped way off. Apparently the local government's investment in "influencers" instead of advertising has been a total waste of money. Se los dije.

Not a day passes by that my wife and I aren't grateful for what we have and to be here in this paradise. While living downtown has its drawbacks, living in the first block from the beach also has its privileges. We get to enjoy the beach and the bay as if they were simply extensions of our home. We can walk to most every service, store or business we need. We know most all our neighbors with the exception of newcomers. We can get meals delivered from a wide variety of restaurants, which is often much less expensive than having to go shopping and preparing them ourselves. But one of my absolute favorite things is the smell of the bakery two doors up the street and the aroma of fresh coffee from the coffee store on our ground floor. Two of my favorite aromas that I can often enjoy from our azotea. ¡Qué vida!

El Refugio de Potosí will be reopening soon. This incredible center for wildlife conservation and environmental education features an observation tower, a wheelchair accessible footpath for observing local flora and fauna, a reassembled sperm whale skeleton, an assortment of local fauna being cared for and rehabilitated if possible for return to the wild, and a butterfly pavilion. Located near the beach on the road to Barra de Potosí. Perfect for the entire family.

Lately the mornings have been very brumosas, typical for the end of the rainy season as the storms cease passing by, the air becomes stagnant and the humidity makes one last valiant stand before being overwhelmed by drier air that will be with us until next May.
