Very Little Actual Support

In my neck of the woods about all the government does is send some marinas to guard the beach. I took one look at the shack that was being used to hatch eggs, and was startled. The roof leaked badly and there was no light. I purchased a dozen sheets of corrugated tarpaper, and a flameneta gas lantern and lpg pot, and the lads operating the shack 24/7 could stay drier and have some light at night. Smart kids, they covered the eggs wth a light tarp to keep the lantern light from disrupting the hatchlings. The shack hatched and released seventeen thousand turtles in 2009. One of the pangueros would race back and forth beyond the waves scaring predators. The young men escorted the turtles right into the water. Every year they say, has more and more turtles on that beach. So despite neglect at least something positive is happening.
