Tsunami Repercussions

The estuary on Playa La Ropa has been going through remarkable changes the last few days. Up to yesterday water rushing in and out every 15 to 30 minutes. It scoured a deep channel, so deep that the estuary was at the lowest level that Memo has seen since he played on the sand in front of where the restaurant is now, 30 years ago. Two days ago I pointed out an asphalt path that had been exposed. He was astounded--he had never seen it before!

This morning it was completely covered again. The channel to the beach was only a few inches deep, though that will likely change daily if not hourly.

I'm sorry to be leaving on Wednesday, we will miss the ongoing action. Since the tsunami, we have seen more changes to the estuary than in the previous eight years here!

Come around to Restaurant El Manglar, have a cold drink in the shade and breeze and watch mother nature at work.
