Homes for sale in Zihua

by Anita, Sunday, March 12, 2017, 19:50 (222 days ago)

Hello,

We are returning to Zihua June 18th for our annual visit, and our 1st wedding anniversary; we married on Playa Blanca last year.

We have been looking for the past 2 years for a small house to purchase. Our preference is in Zihua, but if it were the right house perhaps Ixtapa. We do not want a condo / apartment, and do not require beach front, or a pool.

Our budget is $450,000 $700,000 MX. I check local real-estate websites, and FB groups weekly. Any leads are most appreciated.

Also, we are in the market for a compact car.

Thank you for your time - enjoy!! B-)

For your 700,000p you can get a nice lot on la Ropa.

Keep looking and saving. It took us 30 years after we decided to buy in Mexico to find exactly the right location. We had three requirements: on the bay, a house, and within very easy walking distance of the beach.

If you activate your envelope for private e-mail, we'll tell you about the house we just bought on Playa la Ropa.

Thank you for your feedback.

Unfortunately, if we spent 700 on bare land we would have to live in a tent. That is our budget at this time, and I don't see that changing any time soon.

We've seen some nice houses, and are excited to have a look in June at what's available.

Cheers,

Anita

Totally understand where you are at. We made our decision to buy in Mexico 30 years ago. Fortunately/unfortunately, we had very specific parameters, and kept looking. Finally, we decided on Zihuatanejo, on the bay, 10 years ago. We finally bought last month, and are still doing all of the jumping through hoops.

It was a LONG haul, but we learned, grew, stayed together, and made decisions through time.

Can't wait until the details are handled and we can be here ALL the time!

Good luck!

A word of warning about car ownership in Zihua: unless you plan to live there full-time, you might want to reconsider. We had one for a couple of years, but got rid of it. You can keep the battery charged with a trickle charger, but gasoline is a different story. In spite of adding a fuel preservative, the gas would still go bad from sitting in the tank for months at a time, and the injectors would plug up, necessitating a tow to the mechanic. Cabs are cheap and plentiful.

We have had 2 cars here for 8 years and leave them for up to 5 1/2 months. We have had 4 different cars over the 8 years. We fill the tanks to the top and put in a fuel preservative. We have never had any problems with any of the cars and they start first time. We also have a 1 ton diesel in Canada that gets left for 7 months, same procedure, no problems.

Filling your vehicle to the very top is the answer. On a partial fill it is the air space and resulting condensation that causes the problem. We have left our seven year old car here for Six months with no problems. Also leave our boat unattended for Six months in Hawaii (similar climate) with no problem - except for the 150 gallon diesel fuel investment ... ouch!

Thank you for your response!

I suppose we were thinking of an older car; something that may be disposable, i.e., leave with our friends there, or to sell on.

To clarify I guess what I should have asked is where to find cars for sale in the Zihua / Ixtpa area. I am in several FB groups for buy/sell/rent in the Zihua a, but don't see too many posts for cars.

Cheers,

Anita

Check out Mercado Libre. We found 2 of ours cars on that site. It is not just the Zihua area though. We went to Mexico City to get the cars that we found and we have been very happy with both. A lot of people bus up to Morelia. If you don't want to do that and are willing to buy something just a couple of years old go to the Dealerships in town and tell them what you are looking for.
