For The Love Of Zih
(Since ZEE is the acronym for "Zona Económica Especial", in order to avoid confusion I'll be using "Zih" from now on in the titles of my posts with photos.)
The workers of the department of Servicios Públicos, which includes the folks who keep our streets and beaches clean, have been working extremely hard to help make Zihuatanejo presentable to our tourists who come for Semana Santa, though frankly these are the same tourists who tend to leave enormous amounts of garbage on our beaches, making the work of the beach cleaners even more arduous than it already is. We try to help them with the donations people leave with us as well as with our own contributions and demonstrations of support, including speaking with their bosses to share constructive observations that help them to do a better job. IMHO these folks are among the unsung heroes who help make Zihuatanejo a better place for residents and visitors. They are out working well before the first light of day and long after the sun's rays grow bright and intense. They'll also be out during the rainy season removing the garbage and debris that washes down from the hillsides. Underpaid and overworked, they deserve special recognition for their labors.
