Friends of very long time Zihuatanejo visitor Don Izatt (also known as Dancing or Deaf Don) of Duncan BC Canada, will be sad to know that he has died at the age of 83.
He leaves behind his wife Betty, at their home in Duncan.
Don used to be famous for tying a balloon to his back, as he swam over to Las Gatas and back, to bring attention to the boats that he was way out were swimmers didn't ordinarily go.
He has been a friend of Bill W. for 39 years on July 31st.

How sad! What a great guy. I wish my dad had been more like Don. He gave me sh*t more than once. Literally. For my garden, from his cows! He told me something really important. A full and grateful heart doesn't have room for anything else!
If there's a memorial or anything, I will go. Anyone who wishes can send their messages to me for delivery to Don's family.

What a wonderful thing to share with you and now us.

I am sorry for our loss and send love to the family

Islandgirl, I will trust you to pass on this old Todd Rundgren song to the family as you see fit. The spelling is not correct but I hope the pronunciation is right. The song has a loving message and I send it respectfully.

Izzat Love by Todd Rundgren.

Sad news indeed! I forget when I met Don. Somewhere about a quarter century ago. He was a lovely, warm-hearted, positive and kind man with a beautiful and genuine smile that I can still easily recall. People like him make the world a better place. I wish much strength to his family and friends.

We first met Don during our "Rossy's" period a dozen years ago. I still have his business card, showing Don as "Chief Test Pilot, Hammocks of Mexico".
RIP

Thank you so much for sharing. So very very sad. We used to see them every day when they were there @ Rossys. Were worried when we hadn't seen them, now sad to hear this news :(

I don't make a habit of crying at my desk.......looks like I will be making an exception to that rule today.........
I thank the Lord for men like Don.

Just posting this for some of you board readers who are in our area on the island.
There will be an informal memorial for Don on Saturday, April 22, in Duncan at Bill W's house @ 1:15pm. Kind of potluck snacks and finger foods.
I understand his family will be having a formal memorial at a later date. I've also been told his ashes will be taken to Zihua next season. You can bet I'll be there for that.
Gotta go, the tears are starting again.
