I would just like to post some thoughts and impressions about my trip to Zihua/Ixtapa. First of all there might have been a misunderstanding regarding myself and some other posters, but that is in the past and I bear no hard feelings (misunderstandings happen) and chatting/posting online can sometimes be difficult (humor and thoughts are very imperfect). I have enjoyed my time here and have met some wonderful people (both locals and Expats). Big thanks to Susan for hooking me up with her realtor and to my new m8s for my Wednesday night poker game. It was close but Juan Carlos got me on the last hand. Today I looked at some property in Ixtapa and I think I found what I was looking for. I will probably close the deal on Monday. We all look for different things when it comes to a place to live, I like Zihua but it's a bit too busy for me. I like my solitude and peace and a more tranquil lifestyle but I'll be in town for poker night and happy hour Fridays. I also believe that one should give back to the community, so I would have no problem volunteering my time to help combat literacy (although my Spanish is bad, the fundamentals are there and I just need more practice), animals that have been abandoned or abused and (find them good homes) and of course helping poor children. I have been in contact with a few people on here and I'm sure once I get settled in. My time will be filled with projects. I am meeting some expats today at 5:30 so if you want to stop by and say hello, then by all means do so.Thanks to all for the hints, suggestions, advice, time and support/effort given to me to feel welcome.

Saludos,
Simon

Sounds like you're going to buy, rather than rent. Either way, welcome!

No, I did not say that. I said I found a place that I liked. Property is theft. So said Bakunin

As you sit there, I am sitting here watching a woman going through a pile of garbage collecting plastic. Sorry m8.

That's nothing. We call that recycling. Literally hundreds of people here go through the garbage in every street in every colonia daily, often just before the garbage truck passes (if it ever does). The most heartbreaking is watching people collect scraps of food from the garbage for their meals.

I'm not clear on what you're looking for. Are you looking for a long-term rental? Any other details that might be helpful so folks could recommend something you might be interested in?

Close But No Cigar Part Deux

by simoncornell @, Fort Worth, Texas, Monday, June 19, 2017, 15:28 (9 days ago) @ ZihuaRob

I don't know if you remember my original posting but it was for long term rental/accommodation for myself and my dogs. So I gave myself 2 weeks to find something and have a look around (I also gave myself a budget). On Friday, I met a realtor (through one of the good folks on this message Board) and we saw 2 houses in Ixtapa. I did love the second house I looked at but it was over my budget, so I said I would let them know on Sunday. So yesterday, I said I was interested but the owner didn't want to come down on the price and wanted 2 month's deposit (one month security deposit and one month deposit for the dogs plus the first month's rent) which is a big chunk of money). So this morning I called them and was told the owner was sticking firm to the price (this was only a 1000 peso difference) so I said no problem. I suppose if she is going to be intransigent, and doesn't want my money then find somebody else. Also the dollar just went down today and of course I'm paying in Pesos. So as I was getting ready to post on here that the deal fell through, about 10 minutes later my phone rang and the realtor said the Owner would accept the offer. So, as it stands as of right now, we signed a rental agreement or lease for a year. I put down a deposit and will be back in August. So it looks like I will be moving down and living here (for the next year at least). Let me break this post up into another part.

Greetings Part Deux

OK, the easiest part is done and that is finding a nice place to live where me and the houndz will be happy. The neighborhood is off of Calle de Las Golondrinas close to the Ixzi Hotel (Proper name is something to do with a Golf Course). When I come back in August and get moved in I'm sure there will be some kind of "Welcome to my new crib party". I have met some very lovely people in my brief visit here and would like to say thanks and greetings to my new amigos/amigas. Now comes the hard part, I fly back to Fort Worth tomorrow and start the process of moving.(My lease on my house is up July 31). I need to know or would like some information on the best way to move some household items down here, not a lot of things, an entertainment section (pretty big), nice dining room table, Big Screen TV plus Audio set up and my bed (almost new Sleep Number bed which I'm still paying on), lots of CDs and records and misc. things. Probably will sell my Washer and Dryer and chairs. So any suggestions on what the least expensive way of getting my household items down here would be (no I'm not leaving it in storage or selling it), I have been cleaned out by bad relationships too many times to start all over again, so those suggestions are not needed. EMAIL ME OR CALL ME on my local Mexican phone 7551143072 (Valid until end of June) or US Phone 432 638-0695. Also best driving route from Fort Worth to Ixtapa.
Thanks and Saludos

Greetings Part Three

Ok back in Texas. As reported in last posting, had a great 2 weeks in Zihua/Ixtapa. Met some very lovely folks (locals and expats), food was unbelievable, beaches are really top notch, and had a great time. Also if anyone has some more "pearls of wisdom" please feel free to post or contact me. The fun part starts now, so any hints of living in Zihua/Ixtapa are appreciated. Thanks to Rob and all who helped. See ya'll in August. Mi espanol es malo, pero it will get better. LOL

Paz y Saludos
