As we lay tossing and cooking in bed last night, thunderstorms blew by our coast during the late evening and early morning hours bringing relief from the heat and leaving us with some much needed precipitation. We awoke to a damp cool world where folks had a little extra spring in their step, especially all the kids walking on their way to school with their parents.

Here's a photo from a year ago that looks like it could've been taken this morning since our weather conditions are pretty much the same.

And now that summer vacation is over and everyone's back at school and at work, we have the beaches all to ourselves. Ahhhhh! This is the best time of the year to live here!

Unfortunately our municipal government has been woefully lacking in their duties enforcing any laws or regulations, and invasions of public areas of all kinds continue unhindered. Here a tent has been placed on the rocks on the beach in front of the Catalina Hotel and sandbags have been placed around it to keep the waves from washing it away. I hope none of my readers will patronize this "service". They are blocking the public's right of way on the beach and apparently trying to steal a piece of it for themselves. Extremely disrespectful and NOT cool!

That massage tent has been there for at least 2 years. It blew over in a storm last fall, but they fixed it the next day.

Nope, that tent has not been there for the last 2 years. You must be thinking of somewhere else on the beach.

This is La Ropa, right? I pass by that massage tent 2-4 times a day.

That massage tent is especially annoying when you have to climb over the sandbags to get around it. There are some things I will never understand.

They didn't spend anything at local stores during the entire summer vacation, either. So? Doesn't make Zihuatanejo any less attractive for those of us who live here. We get through this slow peaceful period every year just fine. So do Floridians and so do islanders throughout the Caribbean and the Bahamas. Love it! :vacation:

That massage tent is disgraceful. It was not there this past February while we were there. Perhaps we should just walk straight through the tent.

Often, walking straight through the tent is the only option. It is not being operated currently, as the beach is mostly deserted. But I would not hesitate to walk straight through.

The water's higher than I ever recall seeing it - that, or those wooden chaises from the Catalina have been moved 'way down closer to the water. They were always behind the ropes....like in the middle photo, where there's no tent by the rocks. Must be last year's too?
In any event, who would "normally" be responsible to force the removal of the tent? The pooch squad?
