Good-bye Vicente Guerrero School

Tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM there will be a brief ceremony before the demolition of the original old section of the Vicente Guerrero school across from the museum. I had hoped it would be preserved, but apparently local public servants get bonus checks for lacking foresight. None of its classrooms are used. Students study in the newer section and there is plenty of room to build new classrooms on the property without tearing down the historical section, so I don't understand the urgency to tear it down. A sad day.

Both photos are of the Vicente Guerrero school. The top one from the late 60's or early 70's and bottom one more recent.

The only possible reason I can see to remove that building, is to straighten out the road along side. Walking from the bridge toward your house, on the south side, is not safe. Negotiating the narrow sidewalk around the corner of the museum (?), with cars speeding the other way, is not for the faint of heart.
