it occurred to me yesterday, after a trip downtown Z, that there are no old men riding motorcycles. Why?

Hint: Reminds me of old saying in the flying business, there are old pilots and there are bod pilots but the are no old, bold pilots.

I'm 66, is that old? Been riding all my adult life. The difference between riding, and riding safely, is awareness. A lot of people are not entirely cognizant of what is going on around them, even when sitting in a chair. Those are the riders that you may not see getting old.

Agreed. In all my time in Mexico I have seen, maybe, 5 riders wearing a helmet. They consistently violate every rule of safety from speeding to driving down the street at high speeds, pass at high speeds down the yellow dotted line between lanes, you name it, they do it often with multiple violations.

'By and large riders in U.S. (Canada also?) abide by the rules of the road and practice defensive driving.

I think now days, I would ride in Zihuatanejo, before I would ride here in St Paul during rush hour.

I have ridden my e-bike from Playa La Ropa to Playa Past Playa Linda at least once every year and several times a year from La Ropa to Centro and back, no problems. HInts: Good flashing LED lights front and back preferably flashing or stronbes (Yes even in the bright sunshine)bright clothing (vest etc). Own the road! Don's hug the curb, they'll run you into it. Leave yourself enough room to move to the right if you have to. Use arm signals and make eye contact. I have found most drivers, even Taxistas, to be courteous esp. if you make eye contact.

Curious, what kind of E-bike do you take to Zihua and how do you get it there?
