He and wife Karin (who has since passed) moved to Lot 61, Playa Blanca, near La Barra de Potosi. They owned and operated "Our House" for several years; it was a get away on the beach for handicapped.

Really sorry to hear this! I met them both when they were still recent arrivals. Our friend Otto of La Barra made them a website for their dream-come-true guest lodging, and I ended up hosting it. I used to see them both frequently. Then there was a long period when I hardly saw them and the next thing I knew Karen had died. I tried to help Cecil keep Our House going as best I could, but during one of his Stateside visits he left the place in charge of some unscrupulous gringos who ripped him off. His friend Ana tried her best to keep things together even though neither she nor Cecil were very adept with computers or email. I had just spoken with her on Saturday and she said he had a broken foot or ankle and that he was in poor shape, but I don’t believe anyone was expecting him to die.

As far as I know the property is currently being run by Ana and she will continue receiving visitors until the estate is settled. It remains a lovely beachfront lodging and I’m confident Karen and Cecil would want folks to continue enjoying their creation for as long as possible.

So sorry to hear that. They were lovely people.

We have walked by OUR HOUSE on our Playa Blanca walks for 10 years now. We really only knew Karen who was also a Playa Blanca walker; but we would wave to Cecil as well.

Every day is a gift and tomorrow is promised to no one.
