Have friends arriving Saturday, the taxi rates here differ from the rates at www.zihua.net

Does anyone know which is closer to the actual Rate?

I don't know if it helps but we paid 790 for a SUV at airport when we came on on the 17th.

I'm not surprised at all that anything on the website using a domain name stolen from me and the concept and info copied from me would be incorrect. I know without a doubt which website posts the actual rates. Why would you not trust the info here on my website? Why would you even bother with that silly imposter website?

Rob, I am not sure where you read that I did not trust the info on your site and it is silly for you to assume that.....simply put I was browsing info on ixtapa and came across the "imposter" website and unaware that it was as you say an "imposter" thought I would ask the question. Speaking of questions...are you saying that there is no need to search the Web for zihua/ixtapa info as your site has it All?

"Innocent"....my original question was innocent or I thought it Was!

So moving right along I guess the rates noted here are current.

FYI, I attempted to ask this question via direct email to our webmaster, but did not recieve a reply.

I was extremely busy yesterday until quite late, and I did not have time to answer your e-mail last night or to even check the Message Board until late this morning. As I explain every time this question is asked, yes the rates are current and no changes have been authorized. When they are updated I will be the first person to post the new rates because the rates I post are from ETASA, one of the authorized Transporte Terrestre services that operates out of the airport. I am their webmaster, and their rates are the same as everyone's at the airport.

This is the first and original Visitors' Guide for Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa. Been online for about 20 years. Beware of imitations even if it is the highest form of flattery.

I don't know what you studied in school, but this ain't school. Try to find a website for any other vacation destination that gives you the straight goods, the way Rob's does. I've never found one for any other place. Other sites have info, but no message board like this where you can seek info from other visitors/expats. Maybe you'd like Trip Advisor.

It seems that Facebook zihuatanejo lets chat is a pretty legitimate source of information or is that bogus also?

I would agree that Facebook is a good civil place to get questions answered without the bickering and political rhetoric. But this site is more fun;-)

I agree. The "other site" provides good solid information very politely but dropping in here is more like going home on Thanksgiving. You don't know what kind of mood everybody is in or where the conversation is going. You don't know who has had a rough day and is just waiting for a chance to let off steam or who has been chugging wine coolers and is a bit chippy. We all know the subjects that will inflame tempers and who will take what side in the ensuing brouhaha. We know who will argue their position passionately and who is chiming in as a way of passing some time and less with the intention of changing anyones mind. The discussion can go on for a couple of days waxing and waning until it fizzles out until next time. I don't think that it's a bad thing to have a spirited exchange of ideas as long as opinions are expressed without demeaning opposing views or belittling anyone.

I'm with you, Ingrid: I prefer the Thanksgiving Dinner site.

Current taxi rates NOB

by HolyMole @, Wednesday, October 25, 2017, 18:42 (23 days ago) @ Labrat

I had the occasion to use a taxi yesterday for the first time in years. In this small city in southern British Columbia, the "drop" was only $3.45 Canadian, and the total meter for a 2-3 mile/10-12 minute ride was $11.45. Add a $1.75 tip for a total of $13.20 (or $10.30 US ballpark). Cheaper than I expected, but at an equivalent of around 195 pesos, it makes Zihua cabs look like the real bargain they are, at least within Centro.

With the current exchange rate, Z taxis cost about the same U.S. as they did in 2001, when I first started visiting.

Couldn't find Zihuarob's info on rates. Can anyone give me a clue where it is on the site? (I know, I'll probably be slapping my forehead and feeling dumb when you point it out to me.)
