Debugging

by ZihuaRob ⌂ @, Zihuatanejo, México, Friday, November 17, 2017, 18:29 (62 days ago)

I just finished rewriting the code (by hand) to most of my website so that it conforms to all those little gadgets folks use instead of computers nowadays to surf the Net. I also added some new photos here and there. So now that I've uploaded it all I need to debug it. But instead of relying just on my Error Log I thought I'd go straight to the horse's mouth, so to speak, and ask that anyone report any glitches to me so I can address them. Thanks for your help!

None of the "Menu" links at the top of the pages are working for me.

Clicking the links does not send me to the subcategory.

I guess you mean on a specific page, or is it all of the pages? Please be sure you are actually clicking on the text and not just empty space in the button.

Debugging Note Edit

Nope. Any of the pages. (I navigated down though most) At the top you have the Blue Menu Buttons. Hovering over changes the button to red, clicking the button shades it out

Clicking on them you can see that the click was accepted (by the color change) but the screen remains the same, and you are not taken to the category. You must scroll down to get there.

The EASY CHECK on this one!!

Photo Tour

Click on any of the Blue Page Buttons and you are not taken to a New Page.

:wtf:
All those links work fine for me on 2 different handheld devices using 2 different browsers as well as by shrinking my browser on my PC and my Mac. It's looking like User Error, amigo.

It's Firefox not complying with the new W3CSS responsive standard. They'll just have to fix it because too many websites are and will be using it. I'll see if I can find a patch to install until then. Oh boy! Just when I thought I was making life easier...

While you are at it (and pounding yur head on the desk I'm sure lol) a Carry Over Bug from the last go around.............

Pick a Long Thread.........

Open In Thread

Navigate to the bottom of the Thread.

Click "To Top"

You are then taken back to the Main Page, and not the Top of The Thread.

Debugging Its Firefox

I downloaded and installed Chrome.

Buttons in question work with Chrome both as a Guest and Logged In!!

So the issue is with the Firefox Browser.

Ah, that helps. Firefox doesn't run scripts unless you give it permission for specific websites. A bit of overkill for most users.

Okay. Thanks. Good catch. On Chrome, Edge and Safari I've had no problems. Figures I'd forget to check Firefox.

I rewrote the code so that you can now navigate the 4 Photo Tour pages from the sidebar menu. Howzat?

Okay. Thanks!

I also found the fix for the navigation button problem in Firefox to make them work. Give me a couple of hours to rewrite the code.

Found our dentist easily this time. However, and this isn't just you, why isn't Hotmail.com given as a choice for contact? It's a total pain!

Thanks for your efforts, Rob old friend!! On just viewing as visitor, my old legacy Sea Monkey seemed to work just fine!!:-D

Upon logging in, the page took considerably longer to load than previously and when loaded print (exp.Reply subject box: debugging)was very faint and far to small to be readable(as seems so common these days). :-(

At least, after enlarging view by 20%, all seems fine. Sadly I can not render numerous sites now
(especially those w/ photos)and even get contact refused notices upon occasion.:-/

Strangely, those sites tend to be ones that are trying to download up to 30 intrusive scripts/objects which are horroribly (sp?) dangerous from security &/or privacy view
point.

Happily this old XP SP beast simply does not contain the routings necessary for those to enter/endanger !! Plus or minus my old trusty version of NoScript! :peace:

Yours is still the ONLY site on the net (incl. Security Sites) that I still have all protectors "turned off" for! :bravo: Thanks again for the safety here & your hard work
Keeping it going!! Sandy:worthy: :brilliant:
