Ha! Love this question.. Every November we visit Zihuatanejo and every November I scan everywhere for them.. And we walk everywhere, into the hillsides etc. 3 years ago I saw 1 on the path to Las Gatas.. Only one I've ever seen and I didn't have my camera that day.
Will be watching this post!

Was in mixtape Oct 9 to Nov 17, one in the kitchen, a few days later one on the balcony, another in the condo stairwell and one drowned in the pool. Was wondering if it was the time of year, we are usually there jan, feb Mar and never see any then.

We see them all year round but we live next to the jungle. They are shy and we see more at night, sometimes crawling up the side of our house when we come home. Also one hitched a ride on our car all the way into centro a couple of years ago where it disembarked. We have had them walk across our infinity while we have lunch on our pool deck too. They are everywhere up here above Las Gatas.

I've seen tarantulas a few times on my morning walks up the road just past Jungle Pizza out of La Ropa going into the hills. (I think this is the new road to Riscalillo and the airport.) These sightings have been in February and March.

I concur with dhunsber's observation. If you walk that road often enough you will see orange/black tarantulas usually along the curb about halfway up the hill. January & February for us.

We were sitting at the Catalina's Sunset Bar one evening in March (2014) and a pretty big guy comes walking across the tiles. Must have been six inches. Cute.
