Vegetarian/Vegan Options

Hello everyone, I have been a lurker and poster under a different name a few years back, couldn't remember old login, so... Here is my question. I have been coming to Z for 10 plus years and I know the area is filled with lots of healthy eating options. I am a Pescatarian and I have friends from Los Angeles coming with me in Feb, some of which are vegans. I always stay on La Ropa and am interested if there are some go to vegan options or places in Centro, La Ropa, La Madera or frankly anywhere a cab ride away. They also want to know about yoga. I remember Paty's had a nice studio upstairs, is this still the place to go or is there another that you would recommend? Thanks for the info in advance.

P.S. I'm not as lame as this post makes me sound ;-)

Hi there...your friends will hit the jackpot on vegan/vegetarian options in Zihua and in Ixtapa. I was prepared to write a long list of reviews for you but then I realized I've reviewed them all on Happy Cow.com Zihuatanejo...or just google happy cow zihuatanejo...and 4 of the options pull up with many reviews!! Another one that might not be on Happy Cow is Raiz de la Tierra in Ixtapa..it is owned by Rodrigo (a world famous guitarist and vegan foodie). Just google that name (Raiz..) to find out the location etc.
Ceci, the owner of Entre Zanka Taqueria makes up incredible vegan cheeses, mayo and dressings that you can buy either at her place or she sells them at the Saturday Eco Tiangus. Patti Lily of Pura Vida can prepare special food items, meals or treats..contact her through facebook..just using her name. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me! (PS. I'm not vegan but cannot eat dairy or eggs and prefer healthy options and I just love these people and what they are doing.)

Great list on HappyCow, debio!
Would you please also include in the section for Health Food Stores... La Tienda Organica (formerly know as Origenes) on Los Higos #6? Yasmin is a wonderful person, and it would be so kind of you to help spread the word about her store. Here's a link to the store's FB page:

I'll also reply to the original poster.

¡Saludos!

I do like Yasmines (Jasmines?) place...hey ..why don't you write a review on Happy Cow!!!?? It is quite easy..and I will too some day!! I also love her brother, Paco's, assortment of organic veggies and fruits he offers at the Saturday Eco Tianguas and now lucky for us in Troncones on Wednesdays at our very own Mercadito Organico (Organic Market in Troncones). Paco also brings things out to Troncones from his sisters store. We are so lucky!
Dhunsber thank for the kudos!

You might also be interested in the wonderful Organic and Health Foods (and other goods) store La Tienda Organica on Calle Los Higos #6. The owner, Yasmin, is a wonderful person and it's worth a visit.

Ephrain at restaurant El Vigia has vegan items on his menu.
El Vigia is at the Hotel Real de la Palma near the intersection of La Ropa Road and the road down to El Manglar or La Gaviota.

Hotel Is Real De Las Palmas on the south end of La Ropa on the road that leads to the beach. First hotel before the arches on the left.

In addition to the places already mentioned:
Villa Mexicana on Playa la Ropa will cook some fresh vegetables with rice, they have great guacamole with pico de gallo, and really good French fries
Carmelita’s will offer a selection of vegan options even if there’s nothing vegan on the menu that day. Just ask. And their handmade tortillas are so good!
As are the tortillas and view at Terracita’s, breakfast/brunch above the water between Playa Madera and Playa Principal.
Rufo’s in the Madera neighborhood will grill some good veggies and they have good live music.
Don’t miss La Papa Loca!

I love Carmelitas, have been a few times, but not sure how to survive going to Papa Loca and not getting a pastor stuffed potato or a potato that is vegan? That used to me a favorite meal of mine years back when I ate meat. I have found Amuleto will cater to vegetarians and this is my favorite place to have a nice dinner in Z. I will try some of these recommendations offered and report back in a few months. Thanks you all for the help and taking the time to respond.
