Up at 6:30 this morning to move the car for the parade for Día del Trabajador. There weren't a lot of people watching it on our streets, and I kind of felt bad for the marchers who couldn't help but feel let down by the lack of spectators. It was a quick parade, thank goodness, and downtown quickly returned to "normal" once it was over and the streets opened back up to traffic. Forgive me for not taking photos of the marchers. There simply wasn't much to see.

Smoky skies make for extremely orange sunrises and sunsets. We've been pretty fortunate here in the downtown area that the smoke hasn't been very thick, but I imagine it's a lot worse for folks in other areas, especially further inland.

What's the scene in the top foto? Juan N Alvarez headed toward the plaza where Eco-Tianguis Sanka is held?

That's it. It looks much different without the school there that used to fill up most of that view. And the Washingtonia palms were burned a couple of years ago and only now look normal again. The smokey mornings have made photo shoots mostly pointless, but right after first light a good 20 minutes or so before actual sunrise this bright reddish light filled that part of the sky and I was in the right place at the right time before it faded to the dull smokey yellow makes up most of our sky until right around sunrise as can be seen in the second photo.
