The effects of a regional mar de fondo continue being felt along our coast. The pier at Playa Linda from where passengers are ferried to Isla Ixtapa was closed yesterday at the recommendation of Protección Civil, leaving the too-many restaurants on the island with food they couldn't sell, and since there's no electric service on the island once their ice melts their food spoils. According to the wave prediction services on my Weather page the mar de fondo is slowly subsiding and in a couple more days the effect should be gone altogether.

We're also in week two of the municipal dump being on fire, and the stink of the smoke is certainly an unpleasant way to start the day. Fortunately the sunshine heating the land causes the breeze to shift and carries the smoke inland, but it must be pretty awful for folks in Ixtapa.

Nevertheless the smokiness at this time of year always adds a little extra touch to the sunrise.

A fishing panga goes full throttle for the beach. An art form in itself.
