Zih Paseo

The good residents of La Madera let their feelings be known that they do not want additional tons of cement on their beaches and coves. The state government has said they will present a new design for the walkway that was being built apparently without their input. I have to say, the wheelchair ramp on Las Manzanillas to a beach that few if any wheelchair users will ever visit was probably la gota que derramó el vaso. No one has a problem with providing access to folks in wheelchairs, but we don't need to be paving over meters of sand on a tiny beach already invaded by tons of cement just to give them a platform to sit on. They can sit on the walkway just like everyone else. But frankly, in all my years here I don't recall ever seeing anyone in a wheelchair at that part of the beach because there are other parts of La Madera that are much more accessible such as next to the Hotel Palacios where they can go straight to the beach as well as over to the restaurant Bistro del Mar. Once again it becomes obvious that the designers of this "remodel" do not know the area and do not use the walkway.

Maintenance of the walkway is all we ask for. Fix those huge collapsed platforms. Fix the lighting. Fix the rope barrier. Put garbage cans.

The mar de fondo was still evident this morning.

Joe sweeping up the leaves in front of his restaurant even though it's closed. What a good neighbor! B-)
