This Is Zih Life!

This is the absolute best weather of the year! Cool nights, partly sunny days with beautiful cumulus clouds against an iridescent cerulean sky. But being a working man I don't get to enjoy it as much as I'd like, so I settle for what time I have with my beloved saint of a wife and our family and friends.

So my lovely saint of a wife and I were sitting on the pier last evening enjoying cervezas and a beautiful peaceful evening of perfect weather when the driver of the panga "Grettel" decided all of us at the pier should be bombarded with some loud obnoxious noise that I'm sure he calls music. When after about a half hour of just sitting off the pier motoring back and forth he turned off the music apparently to answer his phone, several of us shouted in perfect unison ¡GRACIAS!, totally unplanned, but that had us all smiling at each other in the shared humor of the moment. The obnoxious noise didn't return. The wonderful feeling of being among warm decent like-minded human beings did. Then shortly afterwards some beautiful soft romantic guitar music began from another pier companion and completed the perfect setting. Man oh man I love this place!

I read in the paper this morning that construction of the new pier was planned to begin sometime next month. Hope this is true because the recent storms appear to have caused further deterioration of the pier. Of course it will cause a bit of mayhem with the summer vacationers, and I'm betting construction will be delayed unless the pier actually starts falling apart again. Protección Civil is currently carrying out a safety evaluation, so maybe we'll know something soon. Now if they could just stop the drunks from pissing on the pier... and everywhere else...

The hillsides are full of verde tierno or fresh-growth green, a beautiful color that reminds us of the cycle of life. That the local plants manage to survive 7 months without a drop of water never ceases to amaze me.

Last evening's atardecer was just lovely. The rains have really cooled the temps down, and since the storms moved on the bay is a tranquil peaceful place again. This is the life!
