Global Pass Renewal

After the experience of my Pass Port expiring on the day we were flying to Mexico for 3 weeks, something told me to look at our Global Pass. Good thing I did, could have used it flying down in Jan 2019 but would have expired while in Mexico. What a mess, all the log ins used to apply are no longer good. What a mess trying to use the government sites and setting up new log ins. They are using your email address and then you set up a pass word. I was on the laptop over 2 hours start to finish. All I can say if you get frustrated easy- be prepared. Now I have to help Kathie renew hers, that's another day- not this evening.

I just went through it. It is a frustration. All part of tighter border control. Not a fan. I had to go in again for an interview. My husband did not a year ago and I was surprised I had to. New sheriff in town. It seemed to me that the agents were very curt and a bit snotty this time. I recall that when I first went through the process, everyone was very pleasant. Not so much this time. But it’s done. Not a fan of the new normal. Hope you get a better experience.

It does not look like I have to go for a interview-will find out. I was able follow through after many trial and errors all the way and pay by credit card. I read before if you have a United air miles card with Chase, $100.00 would be credited back in a period of time- I called United and the Rep knew nothing about but in the end she said it looks like it will be in a couple of months. Don't know about you but at 1 point I was timing out with a chicken and egg routine and had to log back in because I was taking to long. The webb site is not user friendly and trying to find the proper site.

American Express Business Platinum pays the fee back to the cardholder.

The Cap/One Venture card is offering to pay the application fee for Global Pass or TSA pre-check, but I don't think it covers renewals.

That is the problem- renewal is in the gray area. As I said in my previous post the Rep did not know about any credit offered. Can't believe a company offers a benefit and their Reps have no idea.

I was lucky, no renewal problem, even with a new passport number.
100 bucks for 5 years is a bargain not to have to go through the long lines.
Although, more people in the Global Entry lines than 5 years ago.

Chase Explorer card does pay for renewal. I was pleasantly surprised to see a credit of $100. on my statement. My renewal is processing now.

Chase states it will reimburse Trusted Travelers once every four years.

It depends on your birthday. The first year is up when you have your birthday. If you want the extra bump, wait until after your birthday to finalize the process. We didn’t realize this the first time we applied. My husband only got a few days of his first year. I got almost the whole year mine because of how our birthdays fell. Now he always renews a year ahead of me.
