That's interesting as all I have seen so far is the opposite as this as the THC has been removed and they are using it in their beer mix. We already have two brewers in Manitoba doing this and one using hemp for their beers...

Thank you Canada!

The Slocan Valley will be part of NA FTA one of BC biggest exports

Do people still say Mary Jane in Canada?

Yup - we have stores called Mary Jane's Headquarters!

"The Slocan Valley will be part of NA FTA one of BC biggest exports"

"Only in BC"

That's two snide little shots at BC, Mr. Alberta.

I have no particular dog in this Canadian fight/initiative to legalize marijuana, nor do I carry BC's water.
But I wonder, a hundred years from now, when historians look back at the consequences - intended or otherwise - of the things our generation did, which product will be seen to have had a more deleterious impact on the planet.......marijuana? Or Alberta tar sands oil?

Thank you Canada!

by victorio, Saturday, July 28, 2018, 00:26 (20 days ago) @ HolyMole

Hola. Legalizing marijuana is a Canadian initiative, not just BC. Sure BC has some world famous bud, but that has nothing to do with the legalization issue. Alberta is a one industry province. Oil. They do not think about anything except exporting their oil. Alberta is the most polluting and environmentally unfriendly province in Canada.

You obviously don’t know very much about Alberta. It’s time for Canadians to stop taking cheap shots at each other.

Thank you Canada!

by victorio, Saturday, August 04, 2018, 10:50 (13 days ago) @ Gregorio M.

Hola. I agree with you about taking cheap shots at each other. I will stop when Alberta stops. This is not the right venue for us Canadians to vent our anger at each other. As a last parting shot, Alberta, other than its great music genre (blues, Tim Williams etc) SUCKS.

Thank you Canada!

by Mexalberta @, Saturday, August 04, 2018, 11:15 (13 days ago) @ victorio

Stop driving your car. Stop wearing your clothes. Stop using your phone, computers and anything else that is plastic and stop being the largest exporter of coal and I will side with you. Otherwise hypocracy will always get a reply.
Also stop using Aircraft and Ferries and backfill the largest open pit mine in the world.

Thank you Canada!

by victorio, Saturday, August 04, 2018, 11:26 (13 days ago) @ Mexalberta

Hola. Duh. What the f are you ranting about? Again, for the last time, this is not the right venue for this topic. Maybe we can start this again on the Alberta alt-right network. Signing off on this BS.

Hola. Sorry Rob. Won't happen again. Still have a bunch of eyeglasses at our place in Z that we brought down last year. Plan on bringing more. This time will make sure that they are delivered. See you in October.

Exactly Rob. I seldom weigh in on these discussions. As a Canadian, it bothers and infuriates me when Canadians aren’t tolerant, understanding, and supporting one another - something this country usually does. Yes there will be differences of opinion, but there is a right way way and wrong way to “discuss” them. I for one am very proud of our country. And I agree - this message board was not created for people to rant about politics, but to share knowledge about Zihuatanejo and area. Unfortunately, since about 1997, I have watched the off topic and political issues slowly consume more and more of what is discussed here. Let’s get back to trip reports, and providing good information on the area. Thanks for providing this venue, it is an excellent source of information to both old and new visitors.

Actually I should claim my Canadian heritage. My father's parents were from Ontario before they moved to Louisville, Kentucky and raised a family of river rats (that's a term to be proud of where I come from, means we grew up on the banks of the Ohio River).

The Ohio River region of Kentucky is an extremely beautiful area, and several members of the family ran a river barge called the Eleanor W. They also had family in the region of Scottish descent named McLean who had quite a bit of nice land in the area of Prospect where they bred horses and cattle. In my early years I lived on a horse farm, and there were family members who visited Scotland regularly and even wore kilts made with the McLean plaid on special occasions. The farm where I was born is the last one in the area that hasn’t been turned into a subdivision of mansions.

The H-shaped house is where I spent my first years. Like the neighboring houses it’s basically a big log cabin. The marina wasn’t there in my childhood. It was a muddy wooded area where we kept some pigs.

Maybe Canada will become renowned for something besides poutine?

Which reminds me of a terrific cartoon from AISLIN in the Montreal Gazette, around the time of the original NAFTA negotiations in the early '90s. It showed huge 18-wheelers, crammed with American goods, barreling north toward Canada, and a little Volkswagen-type fast-food poutin delivery guy heading the opposite way.
That was the fear of many Canadians who opposed NAFTA, me among them. I don't think that's the way NAFTA has actually worked out for Canada, but Trump clearly thinks the U.S. got the short end of the stick.

Thank you Canada!

by islandgirl @, Cowichan Valley, Friday, July 27, 2018, 00:14 (21 days ago) @ HolyMole

Nope, it didn't work out that way. I've looked for poutine in Washington state and NYC and they look at me like I'm nuts! It hasn't made it south of the border yet.

In Maine poutine is available throughout, saw poutine food trucks.

There a canuck in there somewhere! Angry BEAVER, gotta be a Canadian connection, as well as poutine. Now if we can just get Nanaimo bars to go international!
