It ain't easy being a working stiff in Zihuatanejo, but it sure beats being a working stiff in any city. Especially when my daily "transit" to work, like many of my friends and neighbors here in el Centro, is simply downstairs to my office. Yeah, man! This is the life!

Fresh locally grown coffee. Fresh locally grown fruit. Fresh locally grown spouse! Oh, wait... ;-)

The tourist season seems quite slow. Certainly not many affluent tourists, though they are hitting the market early to get their daily foodstuffs for the beach. The folks who are here certainly aren't having to wait in any lines. Even the daily flow of passengers to La Isla and Las Gatas seems subdued. We've got a little more than 2 weeks left to supposedly make enough sales to last us until the next tourist season in November. Hah! There's a reason we call it "Septihambre".

A bright golden sunrise greeted us as we arrived a little later than usual to the pier this morning.

Our friend Margarita and her family are some of the hardest working people we know, Setting up their wares every morning and putting them all away again every evening. They have an amazing little shop right in front of the offices of the Sector Naval Militar by the pier. Great hats!

This lady sells delicious aguas frescas at the mercado de los pescadores in the mornings. Looks like she's got some agua de jamaica today. My favorite!

Please confirm that you meant only 2 more weeks of vacation, not three.

As much as we enjoy sharing our paradise with people new and visiting here, it's nice to have it less busy.

The Playa la Ropa combi was so busy today we had to taxi back home-no hardship, but unusual!

Classes officially begin on Aug. 20th, but lots of folks spend the last week of vacation at home getting their school affairs in order and buying their supplies. It won't be near as busy as the week before the last. Then the rains will start in earnest.

Sounds wonderful!

We now own the data logger for our weather station so it will (once we get it) provide weather for Playa la Ropa on weather underground and a couple of other sites. It is currently in Oregon, just waiting for someone up there to come down, hopefully in November.

We also have a laptop in California just waiting for a ride down!

We hope to head down mid October but Cataract surgery may delay that a bit. Ca may be a stretch but Oregon could be doable, depending in where. Remind us as the date gets closer.

It's so nice to hear that you don't have to miss another year!

Yes, we will be sure to send you a "tickler" when time gets closer. Thanks!

This may be a naive question but is mailing a package from the states to Zihua not possible?

It can be done. However..... the mail service here gets better all of the time, but I don't really want the computer tossed over our wall. Plus, many items have to go through customs and are not allowed.

I'm still trying to get a straight answer from FedEx as to whether or not they can ship a used computer.

It's always easier to have someone bring something down even if it means paying for and providing an extra bag to be checked.

This is one of those cases where the computer should have been in our hands well before we moved down, but USPS had a problem, other people had problem, life had problems, and it finally arrived a month after we successfully moved here!

I have a bunch of used eyeglasses that need to go to Zihua. If anyone is willing to help, please e-mail me directly.
