Just another lousy day in paradise

No hurricanes, no winds, no rains even. Just another beautiful tropical sunny day and as usual I have to work. But even if you're not here enjoying it live, you can see it live via the webcams here on my website. Of course, you can also see the smoke from the burning garbage dump in Ixtapa that's been on fire for at least the past 2 months and is expected to continue burning rain or shine for at least another 20 days. The smell is barely perceptible at night here in Zihuatanejo, but a different story in the "modern" tourist resort of Ixtapa. Poor tourists!

Not sure poor tourists and great for me, sucks to be you is the best answer. The air quality last night was horrible. The people living in and around La Puerta should not ask how come they get cancer. The people responsible for the burning sould be put in JAIL.

PS...if your smelling it....you're GETTIN IT.

IMHO neither La Puerta nor all the Casas Geo subdivisions should have been allowed to be built in the mostly wetlands they now inhabit behind Ixtapa. But now they are uniting against the municipal government demanding a solution, because they go through this year after year, with this year being the worst so far. I have photos going back at least a decade and a half depicting this travesty. The municipal government has received sufficient funding from the state and federal governments to convert this from an open-air dump into a proper landfill with modern recycling, but thanks to ELECTIONS and CORRUPTION the money disappeared and the recycling plant was never built. Not sure what happened regarding the daily fine the municipal government (the taxpayers) was supposed to be paying for being in violation of federal law, but the "responsible authorities" should have to pay it from their personal funds, not with the taxpayers' money.
