emergency services

Hello,

My husband and I are researching meeting up with my mom in Zihua in January with a 3 month old. I have been many, many times but ever with a young infant. We are wondering how accessible emergency services are in case of "worst case scenario" like a scorpion sting or some other unforeseeable emergency with a young infant. We'd be staying on La Ropa.

Thanks!

Not sure if you've seen my Useful Numbers or Medical Services pages, but you may want to print them out out or keep handy the useful info they contain.

Hi Sarah,
Good for you on planning to going to Zihua with your infant! I took my kids at a very young age (one was barely 2 months, and the other 4 months for their first time). Take any and all precautions you would take back home. Over the years my kids have been sick while in I/Z and you can feel confident medical services are good. My favorite pediatrician is Dr. Julio Velazquez, his office is now located in front of Bodega Aurrerá.

What I did when they got sick is go to Dr. Julio, get his recommendations/prescriptions and then call my pediatrician in the US to verify. Only once did my pediatrician disagree with course of treatment. My kids are now grown and have wonderful memories.

More info here.

Have a great trip!
