We booked flights tickets for our January vacation in Zihuatanejo about 3 weeks ago. Yesterday United informed us that our return flight through Houston to Philadelphia has changed. We will now arrive in Houston at 6:15 and depart for PHL at 6:35. Anyone who has ever flown into Houston internationally knows that 20 minutes is the next best thing to impossible.
Just a heads up to any others flying to Philly.
Someone in Zih must have made someone at United angry? They have been progressively making it more and more difficult. We've switched the flights to American... but what a pain.

Plus I saw where they raised the luggage fees by $5 so now $30 for a checked bag. I am flying out of New Orleans in December on Southwest and so happy they do not charge for the first 2 checked bags.

This is for passengers that don't book using their Explorer Card by Chase. We have been using a Explorer card since getting our MC through Continental before the merger(MC no longer offered- has come in handy when one gets hacked). When they merged we were offered a Visa and if we spent $3,000 in 3 months got 50,000 air miles. They made the same offer for Kathie and her account- now we have 2 cards against mine and 1 against hers. If you catch it just right, a one way is 17.5 k air miles. We used United air miles for out road trip and cruise in Greece. United has a internet ordering site where they have a lot of stores that signed up and if you go through the site one can get from 1 point per Dollar up. Walmart is all ways 1 point. Right now Lowes is 2 points. I love the site for Lowes. Put the order in and about 2 or 3 hours later the order is ready and I go pick up my order. You are going through United to the stores internet site- you get extra air miles which is a plus. United is not the only one raising luggage fees.

All the major airlines have shopping portals. You can use a site like cashbackmonitor to see who has the best rate for a given store.

I like getting air miles instead of cash back. For us United is our best option flying to Mexico. Made it even better when they started the direct r/t from Chicago during the season on Saturday. Hated that Houston connection no matter which air port we used. I had not heard of anyone using other airline portals. The people I know use United air miles.
