Hotel Puerta Paraiso......in Agua de Correa??

by HolyMole @, Wednesday, October 03, 2018, 00:34 (77 days ago)

An ad from one of the big hotel booking sites just showed up in my Facebook advertising a beautiful beachfront hotel, "Puerta Paraiso", that I'd never heard of before.........in Agua de Correa!

I'm curious. Didn't realize Agua de Correa has beachfront, or how to get to it.

It's called Playa Larga.

They promote swimming with captive dolphins. I can't list or recommend them as long as they do, and I regret you gave them the publicity I didn't want them to have. I hope my readers will demonstrate their good moral and ethical principles by following my lead.

I didn't study the ad to see if there was anything that violated your ethical principles. It was a simple question about the location of a place I hadn't heard of before.
As for giving them publicity, you shouldn't have repeated my post.

What is above a +++? You already had those from us, but when you made the decision not to promote a location that lists captive dolphin swims, you got our gold, platinum and everything seal of approval! Thank You

Rob,

I am sorry, I am unaware of the dolphin thing. I have been to the place several times. We go there because the manager used to work at Las palmas and La chula vida. He has always treated us well and deserved our loyalty. I have never had or heard of dolphins except when we see them jump out of the water, while we sat on the beach. Can you be a little more specific on what they do wrong, does the owner own the dolphinarium? It is disappointing to hear that they are doing something wrong, but what?

Rob thinks it is some great Greek tragedy that a few dolphins are kept in captivity to help teach millions of people who do not live anywhere near an ocean. The teaching comes in where they learn about these wonderful creatures and LEARN how to protect them and the environment. Also to understand there are powers at work on our planet that are greater than mankind.
I think Rob was told by dolphins they do not like to be in captivity?

HOWEVER he fails to mention dogs, birds, fish, cats, and a host of other animals that are caged, fenced and boxed for human delight.

Marine Mammals on Display

by Talley Ho @, Thursday, October 04, 2018, 18:07 (75 days ago) @ midalake

What about a zoo/museum/educational facility that showcased, strictly for the educational value, developmentally disabled humans. It could also exhibit other genetic issues, strictly for education like the "little people" in all of their different forms. It could be done as an educational situation, charging admission of course, to raise awareness that many of these conditions have genetic or environmental causes, while some remain simply random with unknown causes.

How about a similar institution that featured humans of different skin colors and ethnic variations? Educational, and like the above you can have photos taken with the "examples" to take home as a reminder and to prove you were there.

Disgusting? Sick? Absolutely. We put placing marine mammals on display, making them do tricks, and posing for photo ops in exactly the same category.

This is NOT intended to offend anyone simply share our opinion on why we are against captive dolphins, since it was asked for.

We hope to make no more comments on this.

You are welcome to any ethics or lack thereof that you wish to have, Dave. On your website you are welcome to promote anything you like.

Regarding your last comment, if you don't know what's wrong with enslaving dolphins or the difference between them and domestic animals that have lived in a symbiotic relationship with humans for tens of thousands of years I'll leave you to your blissful ignorance. Even Flipper's original trainer agrees with me.

They've already received more publicity than they should have. I'm sure if you think real hard about what my website is about and what I said I couldn't do a light bulb will pop on and you'll have an epiphanic moment. ;-)

Still no straight answer, anyway I wont go to the dolphin theatre, I can see them having fun in the ocean good enough for me. But me boycotting the place punishes Omar, a really great family man. Without anything for me to tell him that he or they are doing wrong, how does this help. If there are safety concerns , for yourself email me, I am happy to mention the problem and not your name. curbarn@gmail.com

This article may help explain the detrimental effects of captivity on highly intelligent beings like dolphins.
