Happenings at the B-ball court?

by Ellis108, Oregon Coast, Tuesday, October 30, 2018, 16:05 (14 days ago)

Is there a place or website that lists the events at the basketball court? Not only games, but music, dances and the Sunday eve thing? I’m going to be there in Dec with my dad who is turning 85 on Dec 4th(!), and he loves to dance! Latin, blues whatever, he’s into it.

Looking forward to getting back to Zihua!

I’m unaware of any schedule as you describe. Local newspapers carry the basketball schedule. La Casa de Cultura de Zihuatanejo de Azueta has a Facebook page. I’ll try to keep you posted of events.

Take him to Restaurant El Pirata at the far end of La Ropa beach on Sunday afternoons from 3 to 6 when they have a salsa band and a great party and you can swim if you get too hot dancing.[image]

If anyone else knows of any venues featuring Latin music, please post. Not a fan of loud thumping dance music, but most other types he’ll tear up the dance floor!

The problem may be that most of the Latin Music start at 10 or 11 o'clock at night! Which is why the really bad gringo oldies bands that start at 7 PM are so popular with the snowbirds! But try El Canto de las Sirenas at 6 PM on Monday nights in season for the tourist/snowbirds https://www.facebook.com/El-Canto-de-las-Sirenas-501718419979133/ and if he is up later Angustina and Banditos which have Salsa bands. Also Rob's unfavorite Madana which has recently been shut down after midnite for lack of license. Their videos on Facebook look like the dancer are haveing a great time.

Thanks for the info. I’ll be checking those places out, and hopefully I’ll be able to keep up with dad.
Not sure what the “snowbirds” that I keep reading means exactly (tourist?).

Snowbirds are people who escape their bad weather (snow) and go to places with better weather. You find them all over the world.

The first direct Canadian flight came in on Thursday, and we have gone from a handful of snowbirds to a bunch! They keep coming all winter.
