Day after day I feel privileged to be here, like I somehow cheated and got to enjoy my prize in paradise before most everyone else slaving away towards retirement. Convinced by far I am the luckiest gringo in Mexico. Pobres los demás. ¿Y qué?

My friend Cristina Krebs of the Sociedad Protectora de Animales de Zihuatanejo was on my friend Sergio's radio talk show, Zona Libre, this morning. She made an excellent case for the sterilization of cats, citing the number of cats that can reproduce from just two cats in three years. I oddly found myself wondering why we talk so calmly about sterilizing pets but get our noses bent out of shape when we talk about forced sterilization of people "for our own good". What silly logic, eh?

Anyway, Mexico just legalized the equivalent of Social Security benefits for gay and transgender spouses. ¡Viva México!

And of course you know our Congreso is about to pass legislation legalizing cannabis for recreational use nationwide thanks to the prodding and rulings by our Corte Suprema.

Oh, and all you estadounidenses can tell your xenophobic neighbors that Mexico is issuing temporary work visas to most of the members of the migrant caravans, so they can stop flipping out over any perceived "invasion" or "border crashing". Like former First Lady Michelle says, "when they go, low we go high."

Our weather has been simply PERFECT lately. Bright sunny days, not too hot, and nights perfect for sleeping with an optional bedsheet. Great for snuggling!

Does it get any better than this? I don't see how! B-)

Had to get on the beach early to catch this brief moment of morning magic, but I think it was worth it.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought this looked really interesting with the extremely bright sunshine and vivid colors from this shady perspective early in the morning. That's the tropics for ya! Always a study in contrasts and colors.

Rob,
I frequent your board regularly for helpful information. Why do you feel the need to constantly bombard us with your political opinions? You may feel good about venting—but it does nothing to serve the community you love. Bottom line, it’s a turn off.

My political comments? You appear extremely confused. There were no political comments in my post. Not even close.

Who’s confused? Read your paragraph regarding the caravans. If that’s not political, what is?

Wonderful pix, Rob! As usual, I appreciate your unflagging sense of wonder at your surroundings...and life in general.

Completely off topic: "¿Y qué?" Nunca he visto esa expresión en ese contexto. ¿Que significa? Right?

Gracias, Jeff. I appreciate your kind comments very much.

“¿Y qué?” is often used to mean: “And what about it?” or “So?” or “So what?”

Hola. Great pics as always. Was wondering if you could give me some tips on how to clean off all the salt from the camera lens when I am walking on the beach. I'm not the best of photographers and I could use all the help I can get
Thanks

Yeah, sure. First, leave that big ol’ bulky camera at home, then reach in your pocket and whip out your handy dandy smartphone to snap a photo. Voila! That’s MY secret. B-)

Dragging the phone out of your pocket cleans the lens each time you use it!

What smart phone do you have?

I use my trusty rusty iPhone SE. I refuse to buy anything with a larger screen or that uses facial recognition software.

If anyone is shopping for a phone check out BLU phones on Mercado Libre or if you're in the States they are sold on Amazon. They run about $100-200 US, Android, good camera, two sim card slots (one for US and one for Mexico if you need) and unlocked from the factory. We've been using them for years.
