I tried soaker hoses a few years ago but, like shower heads in Zihua, they plugged up very quickly. Something you might want to check into, before spending a bunch of money on a sprinkler system. The yard now gets watered manually with a hose. It only takes about 45 minutes and I actually enjoy doing it when I'm down there.

The most reasonable place to pick up the hoses is Cemsa 755-544-7748, after Tulipanes Gasolinera on the way to Agua Correa. Have your gardener install them. We bought the automatic timer at Home Depot. Not sure where you can find one here, maybe Cemsa knows.

Remove the sprinkler heads periodically and soak them in vinegar or muriatic acid to keep them from clogging. It worked for me in Merida and no place has more minerals in the water than Yucatan. It also removed the small limestone particles that came up from the well.
