Restaurant near Las Brisas

Will be coming down on 2/9 for 3 weeks & staying in Ixtapa. In looking for a nice place to go for Valentine's dinner, I remember reading about a new restaurant that opened about 18 months ago near Las Brisas. I think I remember seeing that you take a glass elevator down to the beach area, has a great view & good food. Bit pricey though. Anybody know the name of the restaurant? Anybody been there? Opinion of food vs price?
Thanks in advance.

Agree-Kau Kan is top notch. The one thing I would not order there , or anywhere else in Mexico, Florida or anywhere else the water is warm, is lobster unless it says specifically that it is from a cold water region. Anything else is a go. The prices there are not unreasonable at all for a world class restaurant. Appetizer, entree and desert for two will be about $50-60 US, plus beverages.

When did it reopen- were told it was closed a couple of years ago. Their view and the sounds of the waves is what makes it. The last time we were there I order Red Snapper and they brought another fish instead of coming back and ask if I wanted something else. Funny thing, first time we were there Kathie loved the table cloth on our table- they sold it to her for $10.00. When we do Mexican food, she gets out the dishes she got in Ixtapa and puts the table cloth on.

Seems they got the "if you can't beat them join them" attitude. They built huge condos and blocked the view for all others. More greed. :wtf:

They sure did. They also eliminated the walkway with steps that we had used for over 40 years that was much easier and safer than climbing the roadway.

I find it kind of a shame they have been allowed to keep the name and take it to Ixtapa. The KauKan was a popular discoteque on the beach at Playa La Madera. It's where I took my sweetie on our first date 45 years ago.

So at the top of the Irma hill, we now have to walk up a steeper, albeit shorter hill? A great test for my wife's brand new knees.
