DO NOT BRING GRINGO MONEY to Mexico! In Mexico one uses Mexican money..duh! Would you try to use pesos in your town? Sorry for my attitude but isn’t it obvious?

You should keep in mind that some people on this board are coming to Mexico the first time or may be extremely infrequent travelers and are asking questions they truly have no idea the answer. When you are rude and treat them disrespectful it can taint their whole experience. Don’t assume because you are fortunate enough to live there or visit often that others know anything about the do’s and dont’s.

To answer your question, in most places I doubt it because people are not familiar with the bills and would think them counterfeit.

Use your ATM card, withdraw pesos and get a better exchange rate and a happier experience for everyone. If you pay in dollars anywhere but the major box stores it is causing an issue for the recipient to then have to go to the bank and exchange those dollars...

Although your may find a rare merchant these days to act as a money changer you will get a very poor exchange rate and perhaps none on $2 bills.

Maybe a bank will take the $2 bill but make sure to take your passport.

Weren't US $2 bills considered bad luck years ago....and you seldom saw them?

Reminds us of our honeymoon trip to Florida in the late '60s. We were in rural northeastern Alabama and my little Toyota Corolla was low on gas. This was the days when $2 got you half a tank. We pulled into a tiny old station right out of Deliverance and I asked for $2. worth. The only cash I had was a Canadian $2 bill. (This was the good 'ole days, when the Canadian dollar was worth 5 cents MORE than a US dollar). Anyway, the elderly attendant looked at my Canadian $2 bill, pointed to the picture on it, and said "Who's that?"
I said: "Why that's the Queen of England".
He replied: "Ah'll take your word for it"

you may get a better rate of exchange if you just bring a debit card with you to an ATM.

Lighten up Eli-This board is for asking questions. If he knew the answer he wouldn't ask it. Although I always take enough pesos home for the initial taxi ride and tips for baggage handlers for the next trip. My experience before wising up was that all the people and stores at the airport were more than happy to take foreign money. Several of the restaurants present your bill with 3 prices. Pesos,USD, & CD. The exchange rate isn't great so I wouldn't go there to exchange a large amount of cash.

With all that being said, a lot of stores in the US would give a $2 bill a once over as there are so few in circulation. Leave those Susan B Anthony dollar coins at home too.

its just so easy to get pesos in Zihua upon arrival, I can't think of a reason to spend any dollars; US, Canadian or otherwise in Zihua. Save them for your cab rides at home.
