Since its completion around 1956, the Muelle Municipal de Zihuatanejo has played a historic role in Zihuatanejo's development by being a place where cruise ship tenders and sport fishing boats can load and offload their passengers. It's been the site of the yearly Pez Vela international fishing tournament along with other tournaments, and it's been a place where locals stroll in the mornings and evenings to appreciate its peacefulness and beautiful vistas.

Today the Gobernador de Guerrero Hector Astudillo Flores arrives to announce the demolition of the old pier and the construction of a new one with similar dimensions but with an additional landing and with ramps alongside stairs for each of the 5 landings. The entire construction project is expected to take around 9 months.

We will miss the old pier that has been such an important part of our lives for many of us including my wife and me, but we welcome the new pier and hope future generations will enjoy it at least as much as we did the old one.

Will there be a floating dock, so that us old farts can disembark from the pangas?

No floating docks. Same arrangement as we already have.

It's quite difficult getting on and off a boat at the pier for many.
Hope they are taking that into consideration.

So, Basically the same design! Why wouldn't they put a winch at the end, or does that make too much sense?
