All public access to the pier has now been closed including to the plaza with the ZIHUA letters. That's going to disappoint a few tourists.

The smoke has arrived to Zihuatanejo, and this is just the beginning. Much of the state has been under a thick blanket of smoke for several days now. Classes were cancelled in Chilpancingo due to the smoke. The smoke from Guerrero is visible in satellite images.

Another mar de fondo event is predicted to hit our shores on May 10th, Día de las Madres. I suspect it will make loading and unloading water taxis for Las Gatas from the downtown beach difficult, if not dangerous.

Zihuatanejo awoke to a smoky haze covering Cerro Viejo.

I call these rocks "Punta Lupita" because if it weren't for my wife there would be an ugly concrete platform here dividing Playa La Madera into two beaches.

The walkway is still looking good! But the plants need watering. The pier without any light posts or benches is visible in the distance.
