by Erik Ballard, Friday, June 21, 2019, 22:19 (115 days ago)

Hello to everyone and muy Buenas Noches! Hey, I just published the Kindle edition of my second book, (hard copy will be out next month) about life, my adventures, and misadventures in Zihuatanejo during my stay there from 1994 to 1998. Right now, and for the next three days, you can download it for FREE from the Amazon page. After that, it will be available for a mere $3.95. The book is called "ZIHUATANEJO a true story of exile, love, war, and murder south of the border" and it's an incredibly informative and exhilarating ride through life in Zihuatanejo and then down into Oaxaca, Chiapas and the then still raging Guatemalan War.

Full of daily Zihuatanejo scenes, a colorful cast of exotic characters, travel, and unending excitement, humor, tragedy, romance, and violence, this is a story that will keep you turning the pages to find out how it ends! If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me here or through my internet page at: theashramericbullard.com

Don Roberto! Thanx for the prompt reply! Good to know you are alive and well. I am living down in San Cristobal but am back in Oregon for a bit to publish and do promo for my second book, ZIHUATANEJO. It's a wild ride! Remember those crazy days? It features Dona Chencha, Patricio and Kim, my friend Raoul that was brutally murdered and the color and adventure of Oaxaca, Chiapas and the Guatemalan War. I published the book (Kindle form) a couple of days ago and it is already selling well!

How are things going in Zihuatanejo? Mexico, and Chiapas, and the WORLD have changed a lot in 25 years. Life is definitely a trip! Don't be surprised if you see me soon in Zihua to catch up on old times and tilt back a cerveza. Saludos y estaremos en contacto! E

Are you sure? Because I scheduled a five day free book giveaway. Of course you get to read it for free when you pay the monthly kindle unlimited plan. BUT, I distinctly remember requesting an additional 5 DAY FREE BOOK GIVEAWAY with no strings attached. Just to be sure I'll try and check on that because today is the fifth day. BUT, if you're sitting in the sun on La Ropa and still looking for a good book to read, after the giveaway, the book will still be on sale for 3.95 I think.

Thanks!

by Erik Ballard, Monday, June 24, 2019, 19:56 (112 days ago) @ dhunsber

Dear dhunsber, thank you so much for your kind words and post. I had a lot of fun living, and then 20 years later writing, ZIHUATANEJO a true story of exile, love, war, and murder south of the border. But it is my first book that you have recently purchased; THE ASHRAM a true story of enlightenment and the dark night of the soul, that I believe is the better read of the two. "Better" because rather than just a good, exciting and fun read, it documents an incredible set of truly deeply profound spiritual experiences I had while living in that ashram and has the potential to develop and greatly expand the readers mind.

I jokingly like to say, but am completely serious, when I refer to that book and my experiences therein; that both Jacques Cousteau and Captain James T. Kirk of the U.S.S. Enterprise were wrong. It's not the ocean, nor is it space that is the final frontier of human exploration. It is the human mind, and the human soul, and how they relate to each other to create the world in which we live. Enjoy! And thanks for your support. In love and respect, Eric

by Erik Ballard, Tuesday, June 25, 2019, 21:16 (111 days ago) @ dhunsber

Hey Dan, thanks for your reply on that most important of topics. Yes, spiritual wakening is where it's at, and it's all inside of us. But I must admit, the term "spiritual awakening" is a bit misleading. In fact, it's a total lie! I say this because the spirit is ALWAYS awake already. Awake, bright and shining brilliantly! I doesn't need to be woken up! The problem is that most human beings are distracted by and interested in a million other things. Always striving diligently to find true happiness and fulfillment through the senses instead of the spirit within. I definitely don't want to sound like I am preaching here, but that is the essence of what all the great masters were trying to teach. From the Lord Buddha, to Jesus Christ, to the Dali Lama, to Eckhart Tolle, to Mooji Baba and scores of others. "True happiness is an inside job!"

by Erik Ballard, Wednesday, June 26, 2019, 19:39 (110 days ago) @ Quadra Paul

Hola Quadra Paul, and great comment! I have seen, read and come to understand that what you have said is completely correct. The thing is to distinguish between true happiness and egoic needs happiness. Egoic needs happiness would be something like; "Oh I just got a raise and it feels great", or "I feel so happy when I am with him/her, she makes me feel wonderful" or, "That was a good movie, I enjoyed it a lot." Nothing wrong with those things, but they are all based from an exterior stimuli, a stimuli that can and will change at any minute. True happiness comes from someplace deep inside and is not based on exteriors, although it can be shared with exteriors. I think it is called in the Hindu tradition "Sat Chit Ananda" which means when you become aware of your own soul, and as such that of others, you will know a bliss that is always there and can never be harmed or damaged by exteriors. "Happiness" is the exterior based happiness where " Bliss or "Joy" is the interior based happiness. This is self referral vs. object referral awareness. I hope that makes sense. OMMMMMMmmmmmmm... e
