Thanks Helene.

Spent some good times with Owen as far back as 1974 when he had some Italian guests and we spent many evenings playing backgammon. Lived in his house for several weeks back in spring of '89 when he left town to do some lectures in the States. And of course I did the cover and back page for his book "A Prisoner in Paradise", which I believe is still available on Amazon.

Owen did a lot of good for Mother Earth and he certainly paid his dues to live in Zihuatanejo. He was a good and kind soul, and Lupita and I will always cherish our memories of the times we shared with him.

What a ride, eh? How fitting you should pass on el Día de San Juan.

I had the pleasure of meeting Owen a few years ago through Judith and Paul Ryan. Thankful to them for introducing us. Owen is a gentleman who could tell a long story on a condensed version and you fully understood. His love for the environment and enthusiasm was amazing. Treated you as a long-time friend on your first meeting. Truly a class individual.

Bless you Owen.

Hola. I had the honour of meeting Owen about 10+ years ago on Las Gatas. I was sitting on the beach and he strolled by. The friend that I was sitting with knew Owen from years before. He invited us to his house, small open air affair. Very homey. We had a few cervases and talked about old times. I bought an autographed copy of one of his books and we drank more beer. When we left ,feeling no pain, we hesitated about giving him some pesos for the beer. He was a very proud man and we did not want to offend him. We didn't and I am glad we didn't.
Long may you run Owen.

We spent many wonderful times with Owen over the years. The first time we stayed with him, he invited us to accompany him to his book signing of "Prisoner in Paradise" at Amuletos. So off we went rattling up the hill in his rickety old VW van. We got to meet the "Owenettes", the group of his ex girl friends and many others. He was such a kind and generous man. He came to visit us in British Columbia and stayed for 10 days. We took him around to show him the sights on the small island where we live, and he just loved it. He especially loved our BC bud! I didn't think he was going to leave.
Rest in Peace, Owen. No more pain, no more frustrating attempts to converse with your friends. We all love you, and look forward to seeing you again on the "other side"!.... Paul

How do you describe Owen Lee? A man who loved nature, really loved women, loved to celebrate life, and had an amazing life of 'accidental' miracles! I am so grateful to have known him in his 'mature' years and introduce friends to him in Zihua. I always hoped someone would make a movie of his life, it would be a hit! Rest easy my friend, you saw the world with hope and joy and gave us a chance to share such good times with you. Love is without boundaries...Judith

I never met the man but through stories and his book, feel like I know him. Sad he had to pass but who among us can claim to have had a more exciting and fulfilling life? Bless you Owen Lee.

Nobody gets out of life alive, but he got more out of life than the average person. I'm guessing his last thoughts were "no regrets"!

It was my good fortune to meet Owen Lee a couple of times and chat briefly with him. His openness and good nature were evident in his willingness to talk with me even though we were strangers. He was a unique and very accomplished man.
We won't see his like again.

Kathie wanted to stay some place different. I made reservations thru his California office. Our plane was late and the pangas were not running- found someone to take over. When we got there and was asked why were we there- our reservations had not been forwarded. His helper took a boat too "Z" and brought us back food and cervezas. Next morning went looking for coffee- to early in the season. Kathie came looking for me and heard voice asking if she was looking for her husband. She turned around and it was Owen in a t-shirt and speedos. He told Kathie when she found me to come over to his place for coffee- that's when he let me read his personal copy of his book with notes. After that visit, when we were at Las Gatas we would go over hoping to see him- one time we did and had a wonderful visit. We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel California with a French family on Holiday in Mexico.
