Since his father stole land from my wife's father he'd do well to let that dead dog lie. The people of Zihuatanejo will never allow any family of that scum to own or occupy that land again.

But glad to see him spending his ill-gotten inheritance on lawyer fees.

It´s not clear how much influence "the people of Zihuatanejo" will have on the future of "El Partenón." As the news story states, the issue is now before the Mexican Supreme Court.

After Mexico City´s corrupt "top cop" Durazo was busted and sent to prision in 1984, "El Partenón" (modelled on the ancient Greek structure and overlooking Zihua Bay) was expropriated and fell under control of the State of Guerrero. In 2004, the Durazo family sued, unsuccessfully, to regain title to the impressive building (which among other curiosities features an exact replica of New York´s famous Studio 54 discoteque.)

In 2011, the State of Guerrero donated "El Partenón" to the University of Guerrero. The site is today administered by the Promotora de Turismo (Protur) and is open to the public.

Not sure where you got that info, but there is no disco there. Just an empty shell of a building with empty rooms, many full of animal excrement. It is not maintained, and while I realize it's a huge curiosity to outsiders, I really don't encourage anyone to visit this abysmal Monument to corruption. While maybe technically it may be "open to the public" and administered by some state agency already associated with corruption itself, the truth is it's abandoned and not entirely a safe place to visit. A local restaurant held an event there much to the consternation of many citizens who know the property's legal problems, including that no one has the authority to rent it out or even to accept payment for its use. But apparently palms were greased. In my family's case the property represents quite a bit of pain and anguish. Personally I think it should be torn down. It brings us no pride. Quite the contrary.

Well, let`s hope the Supreme Court`s finding is in favor of Justice, for its own sake, as well as anybody else`s. I think the site, if properly presented, could serve as a tourist attraction. Like it or not, people go for that sort of thing.

Somehow I see more condos in that area. Popping up in every vacant lot. Time will tell.

For the sake of many issues I hope the sons/family claims fall short and on deaf ears.
