... but I can't help but wonder what the odds are of TWO enormous cruise ships successfully visiting here on the SAME DAY, October 5, while Zihuatanejo doesn't even have a working municipal pier, only the wharf at Puerto Mío. If I were a betting man I'd wager it's either going to be one of the biggest logistical nightmares ever in Zihuatanejo's cruise ship history, or someone will cancel. I just don't see how they can pull this off with all the buses they'll need on that tiny one-lane road to Puerto Mío.

Lots of public figures are real proud of this. While I'd love to see it all work out smoothly, I have to reserve my optimism based on past history.

OK, I am ignorant, and have done my searches, but obviously not well.

Where exactly is the wharf at Puerto Mio?

It’s a small piece of valuable real estate where currently the Picante catamaran docks. It’s located in Colonia El Almacén. From downtown Zihuatanejo cross the footbridge at the west end of Juan N. Álvarez and turn left and follow the one-lane road to the end. It’s near where I lived here 45 years ago before there was a road there. Ya should’ve seen me carrying garrafóns of water along the rocky path.

Thank you.

There is no way they can pull that off in my humble opinion.

Like I said, if I were a bettin’ man (and a good capitalist) I’m sure there’s some money to be made there. B-)

The first one holds about 850 passengers and the second holds about 700. So lets suppose they tender them to that dock, unload and put them on a bus to move them into town. Assuming you can get 20 per tender and 40 per bus. That's 40 or more tender trips to one small pier and 20 bus trips down a SINGLE LANE cobble stone street. And then repeat this process for returning to the ship. Forget the bet, I'm selling tickets to watch this circus.

The State of Alaska had to pass a law prohibiting those pollution machines from dumping their waste overboard close to shore. I'd be surprised if Mexico had a similar law and if it did, it was enforced.

OK. If we are wagering, I bet neither ship stops. It wouldn't’ be the first time boats were scheduled to stop but didn’t appear.

To your point Fran, the website/itinerary for "Seven Seas Mariner" has the vessel stopping at Cabo San Lucas Oct. 3rd and Acapulco Oct. 5th. No mention of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. Hmmm…?

Well that was fast. Then they must’ve just changed it since yesterday. B-)
