Dolphins in the Bay!

by Talley Ho @, Playa la Ropa, Friday, August 09, 2019, 11:54 (16 days ago)

As we headed out for our paddle this morning we spotted dolphins in the middle of the bay. We went out to join them. There were about 12 with at least two babies. We saw one catch a nice sized fish, play with it then eat it. They checked us out, decided we were boring and continued doing dolphin things.

There was another group of about 12 SUP's and kayaks the headed out just as we were heading in. (We saw this same group on Wednesday) The dolphins went right out between them, scared them nicely, then left.

Not the brightest thing to do

Bad link.

We are much more concerned with crossing streets than marine mammals. Paddling past a big crocodile however does make us concentrate on not falling off!

That sounds amazing. I am pretty sure we saw you from our perch here on the hill and noticed quite a few people gathered in a spot and wondered what was happening. Nice to know that they come to visit our bay.

They aren't frequent visitors inside the bay, but when they do come in, it's exciting.

That's about our normal paddle time every morning. We'll start waving at your house!

An extremely good sign that they were in the bay. Usually there is too much motorcraft activity. They are to be respected but not feared. Same as crocs also who aren't interested in paddleboarders but who will protect their nests and young'uns in the estuaries where they live.

What a nice experience. Thanks for sharing! THAT'S the way to experience dolphins. Not confined and enslaved.
