Beware Zih Killer Coconuts!

Last night's rain was the best we've had since the beginning of July. If I recall correctly that's three good hard rains we've had this year and a very few minor sprinkles. I hope it doesn't all come at once later on like it did with Ingrid-Manuel a few years back. That was a scary rain. It even brought Laura Bozzo here with it. Yikes!
:grrr:

While my media naranja and I were out enjoying a stroll along the waterfront last evening we stopped in front of Casa Marina to enjoy the view of the fishermen getting their boats ready and a colorful scene of the bay in the background when all of a sudden WHOMP! A coconut crashed down about a meter away from us. ¡HIJO DE LA CHIN...! Scared the bejeezus out of us and almost ruined our day (to say the least). I got careless and forgot to check if there were cocos on the palm trees above, something I try to remember to do. But I was distracted by a beautiful scene and a beautiful woman. The exact same thing happened a few years earlier just a few meters away. Should've known better. Watch out for the KILLER COCONUTS!

Yesterday was one of those exceptionally beautiful days that Zihuatanejo is famous for.

Beware Zih Killer Coconuts!

Our very first coconut experience was in 1985. We were still tent campers and were in Bucerias, just north of Puerto Vallarta. We selected a nice shady spot to pitch the tent in and parked our Blazer next to it. Fortunately, a nice RVer came over and pointed out the coconuts over the tent. When we asked if they fell often he pointed to the RV parked next to our Blazer that had a shattered windshield. We thanked him profusely and moved!

Rob, it makes us feel so much better that sometimes you forget to look up because we do too!

A comforting thought?

Don't get complacent!

Watch out for killer coconuts. Shake out your shoes for scorpions. Don't lean back on two legs in plastic chairs. And never trust a turn signal.

I saw a U.S. Corona commercial the other day where everyone was stuffing lemon wedges into their beer bottles. I've seen too many beer bottles rebottled and for sale with nasty old lemon wedges still in them. It's especially rough when the bottle is dark green or brown and you only find out the nasty old wedge is still in it when it hits your tongue. Ewwww!

When one discusses coconuts falling on ones head one must watch "Vexation Island" by the great Canadian artist Rodney Graham.:-D The video is meant to play as a continuous.
