veterinary travel certificates

I tried the search first saw nothing; I am wondering if the Mexican Government section that handles importation of animals into Mexico has its own certificate in English that an Alaskan vet can fill out to satisfy the custom folks when we land at Zihua's airport? I do know that besides rabies, the dog must be vaccinated for intestinal parasites. If there is no Mexican Gov't form ,does anyone know if I am better using a US national form or will a State veterinary certificate be sufficient for the folks at the Zihua airport?

Gracias

APHIS Form 7001 That is for international use, it is good for Mexico.

The airline will determine what exactly you need to have for your new dog.

Mexico requires, on whatever form the following statement: This animal is free of internal and external parasites and has been treated for them with____________ within the last 15 days.

When we were traveling by RV, I always filled out the forms for the pets, had them signed and close to the front in case we were asked for them.

All of this information is readily available on line. Google is your friend.

Hola
It is very important that you fill out the part certifying that your pet has had parasite treatment. Last year we were detained at the Mexico City airport and were not allowed to leave until we brought in a vet to give our mutt the appropriate shots. It wasn't very expensive, 550 pesos for shot and about 150 pesos for the vet. Missed two flights to Zihua but eventually got there.

Any of the anti-flea/heartworm meds do the trick. Advantage, the newer ones, all are good.

What most people don't know is that heartworm meds are also a general wormer. So, just use what I assume you are using on your pup now.

Hola
No I do not recall the name of the medication. Even if I did I don't think that I would give it to you. Our little dog died a week after getting
his necessary vaccination. Sure he was 17 years and 3 months old.
Coincidence? I have always been a conspiracy theorist person.

SO sorry you lost your pet. Hopefully you have another. Not a replacement, but another loving pet.

Our hearts aren't there yet. Our vet had listed his recent shots, but didn't list parasites as he wasn't due yet. The customs girl didn't care and so it began....
