Have used interjet many times and were very happy.. We are booked Yvr- cancun next month and then cancun- zihua ( via Mexico City) 9 days later. I read interjet denial of Bloomberg press report they were in “ technical bankruptcy. “ . Anybody experiencing issues with delays or cancellations? Or Mexican financial press reports??

I flew ZIH to Houston with a plane change in MEX a few weeks ago. Only one delayed flight and it was just a delay due to traffic in MEX. Service was great.

I can't believe their prices between Chicago and "Z" with changing planes in Mexico City.

When I looked a couple of weeks ago, r/t was under $400. I have never seen them over $400. There is a direct flight from Midway(Chicago) to Morelia- I think it is Volair- not sure on spelling. A couple of years ago when we were getting off our United flight they were loading for the flight back to Midway.

I guess you mean Volaris. Another good choice for low cost flying...https://www.volaris.com/

I was. We plan in the near future to Fly to Morelia from Mid Way and stay a few days- we love Morelia and it's history and take the 7am Express Bus to the Coast. Really surprising how fast and comfortable the bus ride is. The first time we took the bus, here was a beautiful young lady dressed like a airline stewardess greeting us and serving snacks once we started driving.

We made the trip from Zhuatanejo to Morelia a couple of years ago, and while there was no pretty young lady, there was a sack lunch. Great trip. We sat up top, in the front seats. White knuckled the first few passes of slower vehicles but got used to it after a while. It was one of the luxury buses, or whatever they call them.

I booked that flight from Midway to Morelia for April. $246 round trip, non-stop, very nice times. I was pretty shocked.

Volaris also has a non-stop to Zihuatanejo from O’Hare but it’s over $600 for our dates.

Your picture reminds me of Kathie and her hammock at the Grand. The staff at the Grand makes sure there is a hammock when we come. Before the construction there was a area with lounge chairs and hammocks about half way down with a nice breeze off the water. After lunch she took her book and a cocktail and headed to the hammock, after a period of time one of the waiters would take her a drink down. After that area was closed, the staff put one on the top of one of the buildings for her. Can not ask for better service.

Volaris fly's r/t from Midway to Morelia. I have never flown the air line and had never heard of it until we were leaving our United flight from Houston and saw people boarding and saw the info board inside the terminal. Because of the price and bus service we are considering using Volaris and not use our United air miles points to fly into Morelia in the near future.

The carrier to Morelia is Volaris. It’s worth signing up with them for notifications because they regularly have very good sales (like $246 round trip to Morelia).

Interjet has some good fares from O’Hare to Zihuatanejo but the flight times times and layovers in Mexico City can be daunting. You really have to want to get those fares. Times from Zihuatanejo to O’Hare are better. Sometimes you can get a better flight down and Interjet back for a decent price.

We have flown Internet many times, within Mexico and back and forth between NYC and Z. Prices were always the best, and service was commendable BUT one warning about all the lower cost airlines...if your flight is cancelled for any reason, especially weather, you are totally out of luck. In early January 2018 we were scheduled out of JFK which had been hit by a huge snow storm the day before. Although JFK was back in operation, Interjet sent an email early in the morning cancelling flight with a contact telephone number. No one ever answered the phone although we tried it continuously. We were already on our way to the airport, and since we could get no info from Interjet we caught the last Delta flight of the day for an exorbitant amount of money, but we had booked a room reservation for 8 weeks and were ready to roll. Friends who were coming down with us but had booked originally with Delta were put on another Delta flight without a problem. ONE WEEK LATER Interjet sent us an email at 10AM, advising us that we were booked on a new flight departing from NYC at 9AM, an hour before we recd the email. By then we had spent a week in Zihua. I corresponded with Interjet for months to no avail as they claimed the flight was cancelled “due to an act of God.” The smaller airlines obviously have fewer planes and usually no partnerships where they can reroute you. If all goes well, it is a great deal, but if anything goes wrong, you are left on your own.
