Hello we have a friend coming to zihua for his first time. 3 weeks November. He is an avid paddleboarder. He wants to board pretty much each day. Can he arrange a long term rather than daily rental? Alternatively should he bring his board and arrange storage.
He will be staying at Quinta Carmelita’s . Paddling la Ropa.

We paddle off of Playa la Ropa literally every day that the waves and lightning permit. This year, that will be about 320 days, hopefully more. There are many different boards and paddles available for rent.

The "going rate" for rentals is 200p. Not per hour, per rental of a reasonable amount of time. We have a friend a few years ago contract to rent a board most days for 4 months. She was able to get a rate of 100p. 200p is not a bad rate, and they have to make a living.

Don't have any ideas where one would be able to store a board around here. Maybe someone will have a clue, but for just three weeks, renting seems like a good option.

Is that a rate from one of the people on the beach?

Yes. That is what Jose Luis in front of Sotavento charges and the three guys in front of Patty's charge. When Raul or Miguel are in front of The Thompson, they charge 300p. There are often boards for rent in front of La Perla, but we don't know what they charge. All of them provide basic instruction.

We had a friend come to visit in May who really wanted to paddle with us each morning. The week prior to his visit he started reading everything he could find about paddling and watching YouTube videos. By the time he got here, he was paddling every night in his dreams. It worked! He had a great time and never once fell off his board.

Of course, if you do fall off, all that happens is that you get wet!

I've rented on la Ropa & plan to rent again, but I found paddle qualities inconsistent. Last time I rented, I was handed a paddle that had what seemed like a wooden broomstick for a handle, while my friend got a standard rental quality paddle. So I'm planning to bring my own paddle next trip, inflatable SUPs come with a travel paddle, so your friend may have one & it would be easy enough to throw in a suitcase.
