Any ideas on how or if the lack of public transportation will affect the scheduled events for this evening?

Publib transportation is back in business.

But just about anywhere in Zihuatanejo is less than a half hour walk away. So there’s always that option.

It's not for us, for friends.

In your opinion, will the festivities be on?

We cannot get a combo anywhere.
Trying to get to the airport to meet relatives.

Service is supposed to be restored.

Lots of people arriving here to the waterfront downtown and the primera cuadra. This is the place to be. The street is closed and lots of couples, families and groups of friends are out strolling enjoying the ambiance.

no combis seen by me in El Centro alas 7 to 10 pm this evening. Local law enforcement failed on this issue, occasionally riding around in pick ups with AKs does nothing for local safety.

Further to my post yesterday afternoon, we had to take a taxi to the airport because as of 4pm there wasn't a combi operating in the downtown or along the streets or highway enroute to the airport.
There was though, quite a large police/military presence on the main street and just as we exited the Scotiabank ATM a vehicle unloaded a number of balaclava, armed military types which spread out and took positions around us and the area.
It was probably concerning to those who haven't experienced that scene before, but something we've seen many times during our visits.
What was concerning to our relatives during the return taxi trip from the airport was seeing the three (3) burnt out bus hulks being dragged along the side of the highway.
Quite the contrast to the welcome they received at the airport where they were greated with leis, beers, pastries and music from the musicians.

That's our Guerrero! Three bustling tourist destinations located in the middle of a war zone. Just like it was when I first visited here 45 years ago, except Ixtapa didn't exist then.
