La Barra de Potosi - I give it another 5 years

"Oh the times : they are a changing."

Now that the beach road is paved, development will overtake La Barra de Potosi.

What makes it great, will make it obsolete.

" Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you got till it's gone. You pave paradise; you put up a parking lot."

Adios Paraiso.

sadly I was in Barra twice this past week and had similar thoughts. Its really too bad Mexico does not value putting lots of public access points to the ocean like California did in the early 70's. Several of those long skinny lots that remain vacant would be perfect. I am sure that some will say that's simply socialism gone amouk but once it is gone it ain't coming back!

It’d be even better if everyone who visited here didn’t want to build or buy newly built dwellings.

I have been living in Barra de Potosi for 16 years and loved every minute of it. There were several platted official beach accesses on Playa Blanca that over the years were taken over by squatters or sold by the crocked politicians of the time. With all the small lots for sale across the main road it will become even a worse problem. It is really the "Last best beach".

It's a ten mile stretch of beach... A rising tide lifts all boats. Now regulate the amount and size of the boats on the water or there won't be any room to change course.

sad reality, but it sure would be nice if even a few 3 or 4 beach access points could be saved.
