Seems semi-logical based on this article:

Yes, I mentioned my concern elsewhere about the poor refugees stranded in camps along the border, another totally avoidable humanitarian crisis owing directly to bad (if not racist) U.S. government policy.

Interestingly, I just had a letter from the local school board that they are keeping schools open after spring break, saying schools help keep kids safe by encouraging hand washing. Ballocks! Kids pack around and spread germs like crazy! Anyone with a kid in school can tell you that!

Here in Mexico confusion arises because they're calling it "vacaciones", as in spring break, so families are likely to travel instead of staying in place, which pretty much is exactly the opposite of what the Secretaría de Salúd (SSA) recommends since the idea is not to contribute to the virus spreading. By advancing the Semana Santa vacations then we lose the typical vacation business that would've been a great help to us in April. So on top of the Canadians and Gringos perhaps cancelling their vacations and others going home from here earlier than planned, what should have been a nice long prosperous tourist season for us is being cut short. Another problem is working parents have little recourse. Someone has to stay home with the kids now. Public day-care centers were controversially closed last year by AMLO, so that option no longer exists.

One more week of spring break here. Many are traveling and will be asked to stay home for 2 weeks when they return. But some won't and we have lots of international high school students here.
I've come to the conclusion after today, that we can stop the spread only if we ALL isolate for 2 weeks. It is impossible to go about your daily business and keep your hands clean and every surface disinfected. I go in a shop, then get in the car and use hand sanitizer then touch the steering wheel which I didn't think to wipe down before touching, then my phone pings so I reach for it and it hasn't been wiped down either.....and on it goes. The fancy new ATM at the bank with a touch screen won't work if you have gloves on, so again more contact. The only way is to stay home and have no visitors.
I think Mexico is starting to report their numbers now.
For those who want to compare this to the flu or cold - those 2 have been around for thousands of years and we as a human population have some degree of immunity to them. This COVID 19 is a brand new one, to which the globe's population has no immunity. It will go thru populations much like small pox and measles thru Indigenous populations after first contact. They had never been exposed and therefore had not built any immunity to those diseases.
It's gonna get worse before it gets better, folks.

I believe you may be misunderstanding. The social isolation isn’t supposed to stop the virus, only to try to prevent so many people getting ill at the same time and overwhelming the hospitals. It’s going to make the rounds. But slower is better for the sake of medical resources and the economy.

You are right. But if you are out and about, you can pick it up. If you stay home, you won't. You might have to stay home for a long time 'tho. You can go out, just totally avoid people and don't touch anything! Good time to get back into nature.
At least those who recover will likely be building some level of immunity to it, for the next time it rears up.
