Please forward any such mails to me at zihuarob @ zihuatanejo.net (remove the spaces) and I will take care of it. That is NOT acceptable behavior by anyone registered here on my Message Board, and I hope whoever sent it will be adult enough to apologize.

Done. After their first email telling me to shut up, I sent an apology for upsetting them, and this was the ugly response.

Hang in there girl. You can’t fix stupid. I have not weighed in yet on this board but I am an active first responder and 2 of my immediate family are health care workers . The struggle is real and we all need to take a breath and start heeding the advice we are getting from our government agencies. This is going to get much worse before it gets better. Hopefully some people have been listening to your message and for the haters well haters gonna hate and they will find themselves in denial the river without a paddle or boat and one of my fellow front line first responders will be there to help them as always. Be well all and please take all of the precautions you can.

Apparently "Carlos in Puebla" (with a Canadian e-mail address) who rents out his "Villamar Chahue" condo in La Crucecita likes to write crap like that above and hide behind his anonymity. Maybe his air bnb property needs some new reviews. ;-)
(This is an excellent example why I don't recommend that service.)

Say hola to "Carlos".

Some people are just unkind and think they can say anything they want to because they are somewhat anonymous online.
I for one enjoy your posts and think you add a lot to this board which can sometimes get a little stale.
Hang in there and stay safe places like this where we can all communicate is what will help us all get through tough times like this.

Viva Zihua! :brilliant:

Nasty nasty emails

by SeaTraveler, Thursday, March 19, 2020, 12:02 (10 days ago) @ BrianE

As another Washingtonian (Seattlite) now aging in home isolation, I echo BrianE's thoughts. It's pretty grim here these days, so important to stay realistic and keep a sense of humor (humour in BC) and practice kindness. Many years ago, I came across a fabulous line from Friedrich von Schiller in his play "A Maid of Orleans": AGAINST STUPIDITY, THE GODS THEMSELVES STRUGGLE IN VAIN. Keep smiling! B-)

Thank you all for your kind words.
It has only been a few days of social distancing and isolation. Cabin fever will be setting in for some. I hope you manage to keep your spirits up.
I just spoke with my elderly (90s) aunt and uncle in California. They are near San Francisco, in the county that is under a shelter in place order. They are managing with kids & grandkids delivering necessities and seem to be keeping a good humour about it.
Let's hope Zihua stays safe so we can come visit again really soon.
I'd like to post some pics but can't seem to figure it out, being technically inept. Is that tree with the funky flowers at night in bloom? I have some great pix, but alas, can't post. Actually, I think I have several hundred pix of Zihua flowers, half of them being hibiscus.

Posting photos and images
by ZihuaRob ⌂ @, Zihuatanejo, México, Wednesday, January 26, 2011, 14:18 (3340 days ago) @ ZihuaRob

Photos and other images can easily be included when posting or editing a message by clicking on the button to the right of the text field that says "image", then select "default" referring to the placement of the image. You can use the "Preview" option to see the appearance of your message before actually posting it. If you want the image to be located to the right or left of your text choose one of those options. Since I don't allow images to be uploaded to my website, the "thumbnail" options don't work.

TIP - You can also paste the image URL into your message first, highlight it (select it by holding down your mouse button down while dragging the cursor over the URL so that it turns blue) and THEN click the "image" button to the right and it will automatically insert the correct code to make an image from your URL.

You can include multiple images in your message by simply repeating the process.

Image files used on the internet will usually end in one of the following file types: .jpg (most common for photos), .png, .gif, or .bmp.

To include a photo or other image file in your message the image file must be already on the internet and accessible to the general public. You cannot link to an image file in your computer. There are many free photo sharing services where you can upload your image files for sharing with the public. Even Facebook and some cloud services will work. The photo just needs an online URL.

Be sure you link to the image file itself and not the webpage if you want a particular image to show in your message. If you want to link to the webpage where a photo or image is located then use the "link" option, not the "image" option.

To see the full URL (web address and file name) for any image file (except Shockwave/Flash and other video/movie files) on a PC you can usually right-click on the image in your browser and "Open image in new tab". On a Mac it depends on the browser, but usually you can open up a new tab and drag the image into the new tab and its URL will appear in the address bar, or else press Ctrl and click the image and select "View Image", then copy the URL from your browser). Highlight and copy the URL and paste it into the field for the "Optional Image Link". If it's a photo and the URL you have does not end in one of the file types mentioned above then it probably isn't the correct URL (unless the file type ".jpg" or similar precedes a question mark "?" followed by some other characters, in which case it will probably work). Some web services don't allow hot-linking (linking to photos from their websites) in which case you have to use the "link" option to link to the page itself where the photo is in order to share it.

Re the flower photos. I too have hundreds of photos of Zihua flowers hibiscus of course and the other half are of the glorious bougainvillea and then there are the 4 decades of sunset photos. :)
Playa la Ropa is a spiritual home and refuge to so many of us. and yes we shall return.
Please don't listen to the crude, coarse idiot who sent you those nasty emails.
Stay healthy and keep looking at all of your beautiful photographs!
We are all in this together.

Thank you!
Viva Mexico! that reminds me of my first trip to Zihua, probably in the late '80s. The road to La Ropa was not paved, and one morning a group of us were trying to get a taxi into town but not having much luck. A Corona beer truck picked us up, and we climbed in the back of the pick up, hanging on to the wooden railings meant to hold the beer in place. It was a crazy ride. One fellow with us, from Oregon, kept waving at everyone we passed, shouting Viva la revolution! It was good times and I hope I never forget that wild ride. If any of you who were in that truck with me are on this board, please get in touch. I've got some great pix to share!
