Just Eatin' Zih Mangos

The orchards all up and down the Costa Grande are currently producing one of Guerrero's most prized delicious and popular crops: mangos. For those of us who are here this is a real treat. One of the benefits of living here besides our perfect weather and our wonderful warm and humble people.

As you may be aware Mexico declared a national health emergency yesterday. The change was almost immediately noticeable as health services changed their posture, calling off all scheduled elective surgical procedures to get ready to receive patients at public hospitals. Michoacán has started a system of filtration at its borders, questioning people and checking for symptoms. Police and military on the highways of Guerrero were also questioning travelers and checking for symptoms. The entire country changed gears, as had been planned for some time, and now it's up to the people to do their part and follow the recommendations of the federal health officials.

Lots of locals were complaining in social media and on a morning radio talk show about several local bars not following the directive to close. If they were indeed fined 30 thousand pesos for opening as was threatened by local authorities then I think we should be able to see the receipts and know where that money goes.

It looks like the burning season is getting an early start this year. That doesn't bode well for folks who already have respiratory issues. Hopefully the rains will come early this year since the ocean never did get cool as it usually does in the winter/spring season.

Just 4 more days to enjoy the U.S. evening talk shows at 9:35 p.m. and still be able to catch our national news at 10:30 p.m. because this Sunday we lose an hour unless AMLO calls off El Horario de Verano as many folks are pleading for him to do, but he is awaiting the results of a new study by the Secretaría de Energía.

Eat mo' mangos! :kingtut:

Lots of new seating at the rebuilt pier.

A shame to see another of our old original beachfront coconut palms die. I hope it wasn't poisoned as others have been. It was still a pretty sunrise. Mar de Fondo is still hanging around.

The Mar de Fondo is sporatic-we were able to paddle and swim yesterday, but today the waves were big enough that all we could do is swim.

LOVE mango season!
