Still zero local cases of the Covid-19 virus to report. Plenty of chisme, though.

I'm still baffled what the people think who are out and about socializing on the streets and at the bars and streetside cafés. Do they just not care or do they think it's all a hype or what? It's a shame to see folks risking other people's lives including all the tourists who continue showing up mostly in Ixtapa.

The pier is finished, but I don't know if it will be open to the public any time soon.

The number of cases and deaths due to COVID119 will, maybe never be known. Even in the so called first world countries the stats are questionable at best, even the governments admit this..

Just think of the numbers of deaths and cases due to COVID19 that are happening right now in the homes of the poor that will never be investigated. Get real

Take it up with the doctors who ought to know. I'm confident in my sources. If anyone had died of the virus here it would be reported because the body can't just be tossed in a barranca like chicken bones, poor or not. No one is trying to hide the truth here. This is not the USA.

Yes, I know the killers of the Ayotzinapa students allegedly tossed their bodies in a barranca, but we're talking about families, hospitals and funerarias, not assassins.

And no, it isn't USA bashing when the U.S. president himself keeps a cruise ship with sick and dying people aboard offshore for days to keep the numbers down because all he can think about is himself and his damn re-election to try to stay out of jail and to keep using the office for personal profit because the Republicans gave him a blank check.

Two entirely different issues, I am aware of that.

I made no mention neither in an EMail nor here on Z board, of any cruise ship incident.
The board Users can decide for themselves whether or not it is USA bashing.
I have NO opinion on it whatsoever.

I don't think it's Rob's fault. Even a certain politician who tends to blame everyone else can't hold Rob responsible. ;-)

Magical thinking? That seems to be the purview of your narcissistic U.S. president and his ass-kissing loyalists. Political diatribes? Sorry old son, if you think pointing out ugly facts about the U.S. government's erratic bizarro and corrupt behavior is a political diatribe, you have a different definition of politics than the rest of us.

"You had a chance to make it different"
Poor imprecise English. I and my family are following the recommendations of our Secretaría de Salud and we remain healthy. But I am neither the president, emperor, god, tooth fairy nor anyone else's keeper. If you're referring to the second person plural, our government has excelled in slowing the virus much better than yours, so your comment is rather silly.

I used to think you meant well, but making jokes about death even in Mexico is never funny and is always in poor taste. Especially now.

2 independent studies that just came out said(working independently), NYC and East Coast was hit by different variants of European Strings of the virus. Passengers coming in from Europe were being asked had they been to China and not traveling in areas of Europe where the virus was popping up. This was at the time Trump put a stop of flights coming in from China not realizing of the problems in Europe. The US and Canada was hit from 2 sides- the Europe side was not detected till later and was just beginning to emerge with the thinking the virus was from China.

How dare you suggest that I made any sort of joke about anyone's death? You are just evil! I've been surrounded by death and dying for the past month, and care only about stopping this horror. How dare you?

You're "no one else's keeper"? Everything is fine because YOU are still healthy? You portray yourself as caring about your fellow citizens but then you admit the truth - incredibly selfish and interested only in your own well-being. You had a chance, and a voice, to make a big difference in Zihuatanejo. But you opted not to do it. Hmm.. older white male who tells everyone else what to do but is actually only interested in himself and his own opinions, calls any information that he doesn't like "fake news", and lashes out at foreigners at every opportunity.....you sound a lot like someone who also had a chance to make a difference and didn't, but he's in the U.S. I hope you both stay healthy.

Yes, you joked. Even misspelled "condolencias". A silly shame you didn't even bother to reread what you wrote.

Thanks for the rant. I always get a chuckle when folks who don't know me pretend they do. Yeah, how very "selfish" of me for telling folks to listen to OUR Mexican authorities and not oddball foreigners with lordknowswhat issues.

While you are criticizing the cruise ships not being able to dock- you should start with the countries that would not let them dock and refused medical care for the sick passengers and the 1 that was initially refused access to the Panama Canal. The governor and mayors in the Fla cities did not won't the ships to dock with their sick passengers. It was after a period of time before the passengers were able to leave the ships. The mayor of Fort Lauderdale refused a couple of ships to dock and the ships had to go to Miami and wait before the passengers could leave the ship. There is a cruise ship in Australia accused of spreading the virus everywhere it stopped along the Australian Coast in March- the authorities just recently went aboard to inspect the ship. There is blame to go around with what happened to the cruise ships.

Just left Puerto Vallarta Sunday.. They have been accepting cruise ships for the last two to three weeks on humanitarian grounds. At first it was for stranded passengers who were bused from the ship straight to airplane so not to infect the terminal. Later they had up to seven ships just sitting him the harbour allowing re stocking of supplies and let the crews rest after being at sea for 25-30 days. They would leave after 2=3 days of R and R. No other country would accept them...

When the epidemic started and it was announced that the ships had ill passengers, none of the ports would let them dock. The sad part was the number of deaths that occurred on the ships- I understand the reasoning of the different countries for it was the poor passengers stuck in limbo who suffered. When we were in "Z" back in January, there were 2 ships that were on a round the World Cruise. So many ports in Asia stopped accepting cruise ships- never heard what happened with the 2 ships.

Hotel occupation in Ixtapa yestersay was listed as 3.8%. Zihua at 2.2%. Hotel parking lots that I walked by this a.m. had 2-4 cars in them. Very little litter anywhere, which is a sure sign of quiet times.

Just a reminder, ´cause it´s easy to forget routine things these days, that Thursday and Friday are STAT holidays. Even places still open might not be on those days.

In the past we have often traveled north during this week. Tomorrow, the Wednesday before Easter, the highways were always packed with cars, clogging the toll booths and restrooms, heading to the beach.

We had to stop in Tepic, the capital of Nayarit two years ago on Good Friday. Thought we could get a little body work done. Nope, not until the Tuesday after Easter. OK, it's a beautiful city. Decided to go to their great grocery stores and live high on the hog during this time. Nope. Not only was the city almost completely empty, but the stores had no bakery items, no deli items, just very basic non fresh food. The only place with people was the Burger King, us too.

Cross all of our fingers that this doesn't happen this year. Sad, but important.

Hey, at least our state officials aren’t cruel enough to hold elections during a public health emergency. Folks from Wisconsin should be suing the Republican Party and the State Supreme Court Justices who voted in favor of countermanding a lawful order by the state executive.

Much as I think what happened in Wisconsin was horrid, the way the election laws in Wisconsin are written, the legislature determines election stuff. The governor tried an executive order which would have been fine if the legislature had been silent. But they determined to go to court. The Court could have just let it sit for a day or so but they decided to weigh in. And weighing in, ithe result was a foregone conclusion. The legislature gets its way. The governor is a Democrat. The legislature and the court are Republicans. So there you have it.

If Wisconsin people know more about this and I am mistaken, I will stand corrected. But I hope the cold, wet, COVID infected voters of Wisconsin remember this come November.
