Zihuatanejo currently has 63 confirmed cases and 9 confirmed deaths attributed to Covid-19. Not exactly a hot spot, but the hospitals are already struggling.

Summer has arrived, and though it tried to sprinkle yesterday, it hasn't rained for a good while so I had to water my plants. The fragrance of plants growing and blooming already fills the air. Lovin' it!

Folks seemed to have mostly behaved in our part of town for Día del Padre. Some bars in the outlying colonias caused a few complaints, and we spotted more than a few families of tourists wandering about. We enjoyed a delicious pizza from our dear friends at La Porteña. Garrobo's was tempting, but our nieto wanted pizza so we walked over to pick it up instead of making the deliver it. Hardly a soul out. Didn't see any fishermen on the beach.

I heard but couldn't see an English-speaking woman on the street looking for assistance to find a taxi, and my heart soared when I saw and heard some rag-tag fisherman ask in his best English if he could help her. THAT'S what Zihuatanejo is all about! Always has been. Strangers always willing to help.

The heat and humidity are here, and there was almost no breeze most of the day, so when walking around town you have to take advantage of the shaded sidewalks and plan your route accordingly. Last evening on our rooftop even the mosquitos gave up after a few minutes. Maybe it was just the tequila. B-)

The greening of Zihuatanejo is almost complete.

The sweet people of Zihuatanejo keep me coming back year after year for sixteen years now. I stay as long as possible when I'm there. Leaving is difficult. The great weather and yummy food doesn't hurt, either!
Beautiful photos, Rob. :bravo:

When I am asked why Mrs, B and I return every year (18 years), it's an easy answer. The people of Zihuatanejo.
